I thought he was abismal as a heel worker he couldn't bump, his heat segments were boring, and he Hulked up(wtf) in some matches to face heat.
See, you're taking it out of context. We all know about Hogan's creative control but as far as being on camera and doing what a heel was supposed to do, Hogan from 96-98 was one of the best, but I don't think he was THE best. I'd give that to HHH.

Just seems to me your main gripe is what Hogan did behind the scenes, when in terms of a character, all that matters is what happened on the screen. Like I said, he wasn't a perfect heel champ but some of the reasons you listed are more so your personal tastes, in which you found he couldn't bump and his segments were boring. To some he wasn't and to some, he was the perfect heel champ.

Re: 1995: The year in prowrestling that sucked tremendously

From what I remember, the main things I enjoyed that year were the matches between Bret Hart & Diesel, the few spots with Michaels & Sid, DDP & Johnny B Badd had a few good matches but the storylines were garbage...that's honestly about it. Keep in mind I was 10 at the time, haha.

Bret and Shawn busted their ass trying to make Diesel look legit, but that man just could not work. Owen had a couple Raw matches with him too. One of the most boring WWE Champions of all time.

It hardly sucked. Compare 1995 to say 2006, 2007, 2008... wrestling was booming. Lots of companies, lots of stars, Japan going strong, Mexico strong.

In your opinon was Kevin Nash vs Goldberg @Starrcade 98 a good wrestling match until the run-in?

Not really. No one expected it to be either. Nash booked himself to break the streak then handed the belt off to Hogan. There was never a payoff, just Hogan and Nash pushing the company's top draw aside. Things like that are what eventually killed the company off.

I don't think we agree on much.

I thought Diesel had incredible matches with Shawn Michaels in 95 and I respect him for being able to put on a great match with Goldberg. I'm not a fan of Nash, I don't think of him as a great wrestler but I very much respect his in-ring work. He was part of great matches in the 90s....and it wasn't one time thing, just being lucky.

All of Diesels great matches in WWE were with Bret and Shawn, the two best workers of that decade. Not a coincidence.

I'm saying he was well rounded and had a concept of psychology because he was able to work with someone like Goldberg as well.
