Was Goldust supposed to be gay, but they copped out by adding Marlena and playing mind games to let the heat die down? I always wondered that.
I don't suppose any of us know for sure but I never felt he was supposed to be gay. His character was flamboyant, sure but the gay stuff to me was always portrayed as a weapon. He wasn't feeling guys up cause he wanted to, he was simply playing on the standard homophobia that a lot of men seem to carry, especially back then.
It was a novel, cutting edge idea but it was always bound to draw some controversy and I think that's why it was toned down.
