Re: What Made WCW Great?
The wrestling. Since day one, it was their best thing going. Even when Goldberg and NWO was around, it was the best thing they had. They both got old quick for me, but guys like Jericho, Benoit, Saturn, Melenko, Guerrero, Mysterio and all the others who were owning it in the ring every week, that's what kept me as a fan.

Re: What Made WCW Great?
Fisrt off 1992 is the best year for WCW let's just get that out of the way. WCW always had better matches than WWF and better wrestlers as far as I'm concerned. The only time WCW matches stunk was when Hogan turned it into WWF part 2 in mid '94. However, it didn't take long for them to bring in great international talent to once again have the better in ring product. Of course the NWO angle put them over the top.
What made WCW great in the late 80's-early 90's was the talent and matches. What made them great in the Nitro era was honestly uncle Ted's deep pocket book and the hottest angle in pro wrestling history imo the NWO.

Raven, Cactus Jack, Terry Funk, RVD, Jerry Lynn, 2 Cold Scorpio, and Shane Douglas were all in WCW before they came to ECW. OMG ECdub stole all of WCW's talent lol. Calling Eddie, Benoit, Malenko, Jericho, and Rey, ECW guys is a bit of a stretch. They were all wrestling in other companys besides ECW at the time. I'll give you Public Enemy and Hardcore Hak(lol).

Re: What Made WCW Great?
For me as a kid I started watching WCW.
Well some of the old guys from the glory days Hogan and macho that I already knew were there so I autmatically started watching WCW, But the reason I started getting into wrestling for life was because of DDP, Scott Hall, Goldberg, Benoit and the cruiserweight division.
I always thought the midcard of WCW was great to watch. I still remember i always hated hogan back in the day wondering why he was always on top even though it was "fake".

Re: What Made WCW Great?
WCW always had better wrestling talent than what the WWF had. Shame that the WCW didn't know how to properly use their talent.

Re: What Made WCW Great?
I think the pure wrestling that guys like Flair and the Horseman, Sting, Vader, Rude, Steamboat, the cruiserweights and others produced. Their production and presentation always seemed second rate to me when compared with the WWF, but they had great technical wrestling when they wanted to.
I think where they fell down was they just couldn't really do the 'big' moments and shows the way the WWF could.

Re: What Made WCW Great?
Plain and simply the wrestling, the lower -> upper mid card (minus main event scene) put on great matches weekly.

Sounds like a mix of Dream theater and Megadeth
and you're wrong because I think celebrity deathmatch had the greatest theme of any wrestling show
