Paul Roma - 4 Horsemen

How the hell did Roma even get into the horsemen? I never understood that. Granted Paul had the look. But putting the WWF jobber into your elite stable was just plain stupid.

God knows, makes it worse when you watch the Horseman Doc and hear him talk like a complete tool

Re: Paul Roma - 4 Horsemen

Wasn't Jim Herd in charge at the time? Was likely him messing about in shit he doesn't understand (WRESTLING).

Roma as a Horsemen always makes me .

As for Roma being a tool on the DVD, apparently he said nothing but good things at first, but then found out Arn and others tore him apart so he re-shot his part.

Re: Paul Roma - 4 Horsemen

That was the replacement they found for Tully.

I still don't get why they didn't just put Sting in that role! Do a one off reunion of the face Horsemen of 1989!

Sting quit the Horseman 'cos he wanted to concentrate on his singles career more. I think that what Flair said anyways...

Re: Paul Roma - 4 Horsemen

No Jim Herd wasn't in charge he was gone in 1992. I think the Flair to WWF got him sent packing and he was replaced by Kip Allen Fry.

But I would have added Zybsko and either Bagwell, Steve Regal, Rick Rude, Austin, Bobby Eaton or Pillman over Roma.

Re: Paul Roma - 4 Horsemen

Herd was gone by 1993. I don't know who was the booker then (did a search on Google but all the hits turned up Booker T rather than just booker). Flair had just come back from the WWF and promised a Horsemen reunion. They wanted Tully but negotiations fell apart between him and WCW. Was Ole the booker then? Bill Watts? Hell, Ric and Arn did some booking somewhere during that time. Watts left in '93 but I don't know if that was before or after Roma joined the Horsemen.

Having a WWE jobber in that faction was silly. I mean they built it up in a huge way and for what?

He had the look but that was it

In theory I'd rather have a WWF jobber who was realistic in the Horsemen over Sid being a Horsemen. Malenko was a decent Horsemen addition (although not anywhere near a part of the best reincarnation of the group) and he wound up being a jobber in the WWE and a road agent. Still, it was Paul Roma, who totally blew chunks as a Horsemen. His gimmick at the time, "Pretty" Paul, was maybe the closest gimmick to Tully's character at the time? I may be wrong because that was during a time that I wasn't really watching and for good reason.

Wcw tried to give Paul the push but it never worked. He did have the look but maybe being a jobber for WWE may have hurt him
