Forgotten Legends102: Demolition

This team holds the record for Single longest tag team reign and combined reign and were probably the most dominant team barring L.O.D during their 4 year run.

Consisting of Ax, Smash and Crush managed by Mr.Fuji. Inspired by the Mad Max series, they debuted as dominant heels in Superstars quickly gaining notoriety for their aggressiveness and domination of opponents which involved show of power and strength. They went on to beat all the teams that were available and worth mentioning incl. British Bulldogs, Islanders, Young Stallions among others rising up the ranks.

They first beat Strike Force to win their WWF world tag title run going on to continue their domination on feuds against Bulldogs and Hart Foundation before facing their first serious challenge, Powers of Pain who brought about their face turn. It took the team of Horsemen, known as Brain Busters, Arn Anderson and Tully Blunchard to end their tag title run. They feuded with Twin Towers before winning back the titles from the guys they lost it to trading it with Colossal Connection.

With Ax having health issues, Crush was added to the team and they started using Freebird rules but subsequently Ax left the team for the same reason. The beat Rockers but eventually lost the title to Hart Foundation ending their tag title run with face interference from L.O.D signalling the beginning of their decline.

The four year run they had, they had beaten every team that mattered and was in the promotion including teams with future main eventers like Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, British Bulldog and legends like Andre the Giant, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Ultimate Warrior among others.

Inspite of being one of the most dominant teams and having the longest individual and combined title reigns, they remain forgotten, but legends.

Spoiler for Give the guy a break:

WWE's version of the road warriors.

loved the theme song, and smash had a little run as the repot man.

Re: Forgotten Legends102: Demolition

Their eventual clash with the Road Warriors was highly disappointing unfortunately. I liked them as a kid, but their run fell flat once Ax got sick and Crush had to step in. Their two out of 3 falls match with the Hart Foundation (Hart Foundation won) was one of the best tag matches ever.

I enjoyed their match against Haku/Andre The Giant at Wrestlemania VI.

Re: Forgotten Legends102: Demolition

They became my favorite tag team after i saw an old tape of them and their best matches. Vince probably wanted them to be the Road Warriors, but i personally thought they evolved beyond that and into their own thing.

Smash was actually also Krusher Khruschev, teaming with the Koloffs.

Re: Forgotten Legends102: Demolition

Their theme music was awesome. Pity they replaced it with that AWFUL theme on the DVDs.

Demolition themselves to me weren't the best team in the world in terms of innovation and such, but they were damn entertaining, and instantly appealing as either heels or faces.

Can't forget about Blacktop Bully and Stewart Pain.....Demolition were great though, they might of started as Road Warrior clones but they evolved into their own identity over time.
