One year into the classic Free-bird/ Von Erich war, Santa Claus was handing out candy canes to children at ringside before a match with Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts vs Mike and Kevin Von Erich loser of the fall leaves town. Michael Hayes had lost a loser leaves town match on Thanksgiving, and it looked like the fued was winding down.
Mike Von Erich somehow manages to win the fall over Gordy. Santa Claus enters to celebrate with Mike and Kevin, raises Mike's hand and wallops him with the bag. Beard comes off and of course it's Hayes. The fued gets another jump start.
The Santa Claus thing has been done in just about every promotion. In fact it is almost shocking when Santa does not turn out to be a wrestler. However this was one of the first televised Santa angles and in 1983 it was shocking.
I am sure there are better known and more epic Christmas angles, I always loved the Christmas Battle Royal's CWA would put on, but this one blew my mind back then.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this thread was the main event from WCCW's Christmas Star Wars '82. The match featured World's Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair vs. Kerry Von Erich in a Cage Match from the Reunion Arena in Dallas on Christmas Day 1982. The atmosphere was very heated as you would image the Texas faithful was rooting for Kerry to dethrone the Nature Boy. Michael Hayes was the special guest referee during the match which play a major role with the angle that birth from the finish of this match. When Terry Gordy slammed the steel cage door into Kerry's head costing him the title, it was the basically the famous (or infamous) kick into high gear of the legendary Free Birds/Von Erich feud.

This was really my first thought too. But the 1983 event was just so "Christmasy" I gave the nod to it. Thanks for including this. World Class knew how to do super cards.
One year earlier (1982) in Florida they had close to the same thing. Jake Roberts was banned from the building, Sullivan's about to get his ass handed to him by dusty when all of a sudden here comes santa. He's handing out candy and little toys to the kiddies while making his way to the ring. He gets to the ring and pulls a weapon out of his sack and hands it to sullivan who hits dusty and takes the win in a loser leaves town match.
Jake says after the match in the back he could hear the crowd chanting in unison "we want santa! Kill Fucking Santa!" Police had to escort him out of town..
Here's some Christmas JOY from the World Wrestling Federation:
I remember this episode of Raw (12/22/1997) like it was yesterday
The Undertaker vs. Kane angle is definitely one of my all-time favorites. I loved how Undertaker's character progressed from not wanting to fight his brother here to eventually wanting to literally put him in flames months later. It was well built from the spring of '97 to Unforgiven '98.
This was awesome Classic Degeneration X
How can we forget this moment. They've replayed it a bunch of times over the years!
