Re: British Bulldog's Return In 99

Simply put, they did not know what to do with him. He was nowhere fit in AE as the original BB and he can't be taken out of it for he was popular as the BB. He was not excellent on mic enough to stand up to Austin or Rock for if he was, they could have put him in a Mr. Right or RTC sort of gimmick who stood against AE.

If you notice, when 1-2-3 kid came back as X-Pac, they put him in the right place and he had another run in WWE, which they could not do for BB. He was backed by friends and entertainment value, neither of which can be said for BB, as good as he was a looker or in the ring.

Now I wish that had Owen Hart been around, they could have done a program with the two as the straights who stood for values against the AE times.

Re: British Bulldog's Return In 99

They made a mistake bringing him back with a new look and new character. People wanted the old British Bulldog. He could've been a midcard player feuding with the McMahons/Triple H over Montreal. Another big problem is that he was a shell of his former self in the ring, which is a major issue when you're known for 2 things: being an outstanding in-ring performer and taking a metric fucktonne of steroids.

Can I just say, his theme song kicked ass though!

That was worth his return alone.

I remember him hitting Stephanie with that bin and giving her amnesia and then her getting revenge when she was a heal with HHH. A storyline I'd completely forgotten about until now...

Re: British Bulldog's Return In 99

Bulldog's career was about over the moment he got fed up with Vince following the screw job and headed to WCW. His lackluster return in WWF could have been part of the "revenge" by Vince for leaving. He got a European Championship run. Although, that was fleeting and on name basis only. He wasn't the same Bulldog that wrestling fans knew and loved.

Random side note: Bulldog wore his original tights at first. Then he transitioned into the odd jeans wearing phase.

His build had decreased too. In RR 2000 he looked so small compared to the other guys. Bulldog one of my faves of all time.

EDIT - I'm lying, apparently!

Didn't he wind up the leader of the Mean Street Posse at one point?
