He had a tremendous impact on the sport with his ring work. He helped usher in a new age of wrestling talent. When he "broke through" in the WWF we were still in an era of punch, resthold, kick, clothesline, bodyslam, back body drop and finisher (at least we were in the US). Not that everyone had a limited move set, but it was just the norm at the time. It was shocking to see him snap a suplex like he did.
I think without a doubt he would be considered one of the greatest of all time if his injuries had not shortened his career. I do consider him a GOAT ring worker. He belongs in the conversation of greatest middle wieghts easily.
I have it's basicly the template for modern indy movez fests. Dynamite was working as the base for the much more exciting Tiger Mask, but Tiger really had no idea how to piece together a coherant match around his flashy spots. Dynamite was a weak lead in most of those matches just sort of laying around in random holds before the spots kicked in.
He was a dick & a bully, an overrated worker (with an overrate feud with Tiger Mask to boot) & I hold him responsible for spawning buckets of Indie shit like Davey Richards. Dynamite is also a big reason Benoit worked the way he did, including the Diving Headbutt. Which I'm sure led to its fair share of concussions...
Never been a Dynamite fan, never will be.
Hands down one of the goat in the ring. If it wasn't for him, wrestling (actual wrestling, not business) wouldn't be what it is today. He has influenced many, and helped the in ring aspect evolve
Weel I hope you meant on Dynamtie Kid the wrester and his acomplishments inside the ring and not Tom Billington the person.
As for The Dynamite Kid, I agree with Bret, Jim Ross and many others that he was the greatest pound for pound wreslter ever.
Not only did he have a high pace during his matches, he brought realism to matches despite using "flashy" top rope moves etc. I eman look at Rey Misterio today and his 619. It looks staged and how the opponent falls ´back in the same spot every time so Rey can do his splash of the top rope.
Dynamtie Kid was pioneer.
As for Tom Billington I chose not to comment at this moment
He helped to revolutionize wrestling and anyone watching the tiger mask matches should take note of the difference in speed between those matches and other matches of the same period. It was a phenomenal series in its day and holds up pretty well even today. With a good attitude, he could've been one of the all time greats. His early World of Sport stuff is brilliant too if people can find it.
BUT He is not nor was he ever the best worker of all time. He was a stiff piece of shit that could've really injured other workers in the ring. Stiffness for stiffness' sake is not being a good worker, it's being a jackass. You should only ever do enough to make it look real. Not hurting your opponent is a key aspect of being a good worker in my view.
(Then again I'm not a huge puro fan so each to their own)
There are plenty of other workers who were stiff but did not cross the line like he did on many occasions. Tom Billington, the man needs no introduction for most people reading this section and will go down as one of the most unprofessional workers the business has seen and the fact he was phenomenal in the ring will never change that.
Never liked the Rougeaus until I heard Jacques cheapshotted Dynamite Kid. No one is the business deserved it more by most accounts.
Very sad how his life has ended up. I believe he may have reconciled with several other wrestlers since he retired and I hope he's doing well these days. I think he attended Davey Boy's funeral so I assume they may have made up.

He was a phenomenal worker, easily one of the best ever for me. It's sad that many of the current generation, don't have a clue who he is. It's also sad that he's such a bitter human being.
I'm now reading Bret Hart's autobiography and I've just read about 100 pages. Can't wait to hear more about The Dynamite Kid, even if it's not all positive. He was in the WWF before my era though, I'm going to watch some of his and Davey Boy Smith's matches.
Has anyone got any stories about the Dynamite Kid other than written in Hart's autobiography. Find it quite intriguing being English myself to find out what the bloke was like outside of the ring before he couldn't continue anymore.
I've seen the videos on Youtube from the CNN interview and am aware of an upcoming interview which looks interesting as hell.
Hands down one of the goat in the ring. If it wasn't for him, wrestling (actual wrestling, not business) wouldn't be what it is today. He has influenced many, and helped the in ring aspect evolve
great worker in the ring, not a great person outside of the ring. dynamite wasn't a big reason as to why benoit did the headbutts, sure he was his idol, but dynamite never forced him to do that move, benoit did it on his own. harley race is the one who invented it.
dynamite doesn't have anyone but himself to blame for his problems
If so, save your money and get it from Xtreme Wrestling Torrents. Hopefully, it'll be on there, as if this is a shoot with Dynamite you're talking about, I'd love to see it.
Yeah with interviews from a couple of the Harts and some others, should be interesting to see how he is now and hopefully hear some deep thoughts from a highly controversial figure. Yeah I was hoping it'd be uploaded on there, hopefully.
Based on the Tiger Mask matches he's severly overrated. Those matches make for a good hi-lite reel the speed and execution are fantastic, but the matches as a whole aren't that great. He was way ahead of his time though so I guess that's why a lot of people say he's an all time great.
Excellent worker. I'd put him just a notch below the likes of Benoit and Bret Hart. As an overall package, however, I don't think I'd put him in my top 15.
Ok, everybody is netitled to their opinion but I tend to agree with Bret, Jim Ross and Vince McMahon himself that Dynamtie was the pound for pound argubly the best wrestler ever. And I presume if any, they know the business way better than most people (Both inside and outside the business)
Oh, well, he was the kind of a guy who were in a grey zone regarding ribs. Many of his ribs were meant in a humorous way, but some (many) of his jokes were out of just being "mean spirited" as well. Unlike Owen Hart for example, who was a notorious ribber too, but all his ribs were done in a more positive way of the victim.
But Dynamite on the other hand would slip a pill of speed in Terry Funks whiskey glass, cut Terry Taylors clothes to shreds, inject Harley Race with milk with Harley believing it was steroids. Also he would shave some ones eyebrows off if a guy had passed out being drunk.
Nothing different than other ribs, no more cruel or so, but just that Dynamite did it all the time unlike most of the other wrestlers.
Best read to this is Dynamites book itself, of which I am reading (Again) at this very moment. But also Brets book too bring up some Dynamite and OWen ribs
Now watching The Dynamite Kid A Matter of Pride, his input is shocking. Five word answers without explanation or expansion. The documentary is mainly based around the Harts telling his story.
What is it with that Sky remote being in every photograph of him nowadays
Excellent worker. I'd put him just a notch below the likes of Benoit and Bret Hart. As an overall package, however, I don't think I'd put him in my top 15.
I think he was one of the best workers ever but like everyone has said, outside the ring he was a HUGE douche. Every time I hear his name I think of Foley's jobber match with him and he hurt him on purpose.
Talented and capable worker but somewhat overrated. I always though Benoit, Angle and Bret were better. His style was innovative to Western audiences, but somewhat overrated.
That said, he was very unstable and kinda of a $h!+.
