No offense but only a fool that hates everything old school would say Flair couldn't wrestle or cut a promo. Look in the 80s, marathon matches with Windham & Sting, classics in Japan with Fujinami and his promo work in the 80s definitely ranks very high. The guys you posted are great on the mic but to say Flair doesn't even compare is weird. I understand, it's your opinion and you hate Flair.
Chapo I think the guys who call Flair over-rated are either :

1 Guys who are not old enough to appreciate him
2 Are from outside the US where they had no exposure to 70's and 80's Flair
3 People with an agenda, who want to detract from him to push thier guy
4 WWF fans who are blinded by their Hogan,Rock, Austin fanatacism

Some posters have two or three of these symptoms

If I could pick, they are guilty of 3 and 4 for sure.

The rest is just ignorance. While they may not be old enough or from outside the US, thats what Youtube & torrents are for. They have no problem looking up Attitude Era videos. I say, take the time out and acknowledge the history of the business and at least see how it got to where it is today.

And their only exposure to Flair is whatever WWE showed of him. Because remember, the mindstate of some is if it didn't happen in WWE, it sucks.

It has nothing to do with not liking 'old school' wrestling, or being an attitude era fan, or being English. It's a simple case of opinon. I have never seen a promo by Ric Flair that I found entertaining, his voice irritates me and his enuciation and delivery is over the top, exaggerated and ridiculous.

I do not think he is a great talker, and therefore think he is overated.

But again, like I said, it's fine if other people like him, I just personally wouldn't put him above many many other wrestlers, either in the ring or on the stick.

Tell me this, name 10 guys not named Hogan, Rock or Austin (I'm talking legit technical wrestlers) that you would rank above Flair?

And, give me 5 guys from the 80s not named Hogan that you would rank above Flair?

You want a list of 10 wrestlers I prefer to Ric Flair? That I think are more entertaining in the ring and on the mic? I don't understand what that proves other than what my opinion is compared to yours, and why exactly do I need to list guys from the 80's? after all, the history of wrestling is not defined by set decades, Flair being top 5 in the 80's has no bearing on where he would be listed all time. Also, why exactly do the wrestlers I choose have to be 'legit technical wrestlers'? Pro wrestling is obviously about much more than being a 'technical wrestler'. Anyway, here's a list of ten wrestlers (excluding Austin and Rock, who are obviously the two greatest of all time) who I believe are either more entertaining than Ric Flair in the ring, on the mic, or both.

1. Kurt Angle
2. Chris Jericho
3. HHH
4. Mick Foley
5. Raven
6. Chris Benoit
7. Eddie Guerrero
8. Mr Perfect
9. AJ Styles
10. Sting

And for the record (not you Chapo), why exactly would someone 'red rep' someone for voicing an opinion different to theirs? I don't find Ric Flair entertaining, so you give me 'red rp'? Wow, now that really is pathetic mate.

Maybe it's just me. I grew up on guys like Flair & Sting. First match I ever saw was Flair/Sting vs. Muta/Funk and I've been a fan since.

Just boggles me that, whether you hate him or not, somebody can say Flair sucked.

And wrestling is about so much more. I just hate the notion that because somebody used politics, wasn't always money on the mic or possibly lacked charisma, means they suck or are overrated.

To me, Flair put in too much work in the 80s to be labeled as shit. It's a reason territories made money when Flair came to town. And for the most part, I feel if Flair was in WWF in the 80s, people would rank him differently.

I would never say that Flair didn't work hard, or help the business, that is not my arguement at all mate. My opinion is that Flair does not entertain me, he just irritates. It really is as simple as that, just a matter of taste. I would rather watch a match or listen to a promo involving any of the ten guys I listed above (and many many more wrestlers) than watch/listen to Flair.

Dyl obviously you are entitled to your opinion. I do not take issue with that at all. Fact is I have never cared for Flair personally , however I recognize his greatness. But i just have a hard time believing that any wrestling fan who appreciates the sport can say that Flair is over-rated.

But like you said it is youlr opinion.....

It just feels like an American telling you something about the Hammers you know is just wrong

No offense you seem like a great poster minus the Flair hate

Btw how can you tell if you get green or red rep?

My take on it is that you can understand someone's 'greatness' or 'impact' in the business without enjoying tehir work (See Hogan and HBK as examples for me along with Flair). Flair is a huge name for many legit reasons, I just don't like the guy personally and don't enjoy watching him (again, see HBK and Hogan).

I appreciate the fact you can see that this is just an opinion and we can have a discussion about it, there are far too many people on this site who deem their opinion the be all and end all (hence giving red rep).

Haha, i'm sure there are a few Americans who know a lot about my beloved Irons

To see your rep you go to 'user cp'.

This is the mindset of a fan nowadays: "I don't like him, therefore he's overrated and sucks donkey ass"

Sheeeeeit, why are people so afraid to acknowledge someone/something even if they don't like it? I'm telling you, I don't like Lawler, Taker, Bret and Foley at all, but I would be flat out stupid not to recognize and acknowledge their greatness and qualities.
