As to Flair, it is very hard to argue against his status as perhaps the best all-around professional wrestler of all time in his prime years.

World titles? Check.

In-Ring skills? Check.
--we are talking about the guy who could go in there and wrestle a broom to at least a 4 star match.

Promos? Check.

Draw? Check.

Longevity? Check.
--over 3000 matches by my estimation, and perhaps hundreds more I don't know about.

Durability? Check.
--never gone long with injury, and even recovered from a broken fuckin back suffered in a fuckin plane crash. Any man that survives a plane crash is a charmed individual.

Legendary matches? Check.
--Steamboat, Windham, Funk, Sting, and many many more.

Willingness to put guys over? Check.
--he's put over almost everybody that mattered in the 1980s and 90s at one point or another.

I refuse to make a distinction as to who the absolute GOAT is because there are several people that have valid claims to that seat. Hogan, Race, Flair, Ed Lewis, Thesz, Gotch, Hackenschmidt, Londos, Sammartino, Rock, Austin, Andre, Backlund, Farmer Burns, William Muldoon, Inoki, Santo, and yes Lawler all have strong cases to make.
Ric Flair had everything to succeed as a wrestler.Randy Savage,Jerry Lawler and Shawn Michaels were the other all-rounders that I have witnessed. It was good of you to mention Backlund among all time greats. He surely is a forgotten legend.

Maybe he would have surpassed Austin and perhaps Bruno Sammartino but Hogan would still be the greatest.

I always though Flair was overrated as a worker, but I sure do love his promos!

I fail to see how anyone can stand listening to Ric Flair. His exagerated shouting lisping promos are anything but entertaining, I'd rather listen to Vickie fucking Guerrero.

Flairs promos are nothing short of embarrassing.

After Flair left for TNA, in 2010, Vince Mcmahon banned the use of Knife edge chop because the fans went Wooooooo! every single time anyone used it. That's leaving a legacy. From a fan's perspective, the entertainment matters more than business, draws, gates, revolutionizing the industry and what not which very few managed to do with a lasting impression like Flair did.

Just a honest thought from an irrelevant mind.

Flair was absolute best: In Ring, With Promos, With Charisma and as a heel.

I think the reason most people shit on Flair because of how long he stuck around.

But to say he was an overrated worker and his promos sucked is just hating. Flair made it cool to be a bad guy. Regardless of politics, guys in the business respected Flair because he worked his ass off everynight. It's a big reason many territories made good money in the 80s. They knew when the champ came to town, they were going to be treated to a show.

I sense a pattern. Anybody with anything to do with Austin/Rock in their sig/avi will automatically shit on any other wrestler from before the Attitude Era and call them overrated. Talk about irony.

That's certainly a factor, yes. Seeing the saggy old idiot flop around the ring was embarrassing in the extreme. However, this has nothing to do with the fact that I just personally can't stand listening to him or watching him wrestle. His matches are a snooze and his overselling is ridiculous and cringeworthy (much like Shawn Michaels). His promos are not great, there is no subtlety, no quiet intensity and no juxtaposition between loud and soft. He just shouts like a moron. Compare his mic work to Mick Foley, Raven, Jake Roberts, Steve Austin, Chris Jericho...he does not compare, not even close. He is overated in my opinion. You obvioulsy think differently, that's fine.

Only thing I get from that is you flat out hate Flair.

No offense but only a fool that hates everything old school would say Flair couldn't wrestle or cut a promo. Look in the 80s, marathon matches with Windham & Sting, classics in Japan with Fujinami and his promo work in the 80s definitely ranks very high. The guys you posted are great on the mic but to say Flair doesn't even compare is weird. I understand, it's your opinion and you hate Flair.
