So I was watching the new nWo DVD, and Savage didn't really make much of an impact. He was the victim of the infamous leg drop that started it all, but he never did much. He is one of my all time favorite wrestlers and was great in the WWF. I personally feel like they could have made the nWo war last longer if they had another wrestler standing by Sting in the fight. I truly thing Savage could have been the Face of WCW during the WCW/nWo wars. Don't get me wrong. I loved Sting and Goldberg and DDP taking them on, but if Savage would have been another big name on the WCW side, I thing he would have gone further in WCW. Thoughts?

I agree. By the time Savage joined, there were too many in it already. And the balance between top heels and faces, which was already lopsided in favor of the heels, became even more unbalanced. There was no room for Savage to shine as a top heel, but there was room for him as a top face.

On the other hand, we got the wonderfully intense DDP/Savage feud out of it so him joining wasn't all bad.

That was the only feud of his in WCW that I actually liked. The rest of Randy's run there was dreadful.

DDP/Savage is my favorite part of the nWo bar Hogan/Sting so even though I'm slightly pissed that he was treated as a mook of sorts for Hogan/Nash it wasn't all bad.
As well as that It'd be hypocritical for me to want him in the main event at the time when at that age he was helping to put over younger guys(lol DDP young )

His nWo run was fine because it was just WCW vs. nWo, and he needed a heel run to freshen up his character a bit. When it turned into 2 factions that's when the nWo concept truly went downhill, but it ended up losing its purpose.

I didn't enjoy his NWO run outside of his feud with DDP.

Savage was actually pretty stale most of his WCW run imo. He seemed stuck in the 80's gimmick and look wise. The only time I thought he was cool in WCW was in the late 90's when he slicked his hair back and had a stable of chicks (Madusa, Miss Madness, and Gorgeous George) with him. I thought that finally brought his character up to date a bit.

I believe the Savage WCW run was handled miserably from day one.

Savage was at his absolute best when he was allowed to be the raging lunatic. His days in the IWA, CWA, and early WWF were his best days. In my opinion WWF face Savage limited him, especially during that particular point in WWF history. Savge was no longer the mad man but a funny, yet talented worker who had the intensity, but was not allowed to be the true terror he was as a heel. He began wearing neon and those dreaful cowboy hats. He was snapping into a slim jim instead of snapping necks. I even hated the whole Macho King era...I just longed for the Macho Man who was his own gimmick.

So when he made the move to WWF what did they do? They did not make him a raging heel, they made him the catalyst for Hulk Hogan. When they did finally allow him to go heel he was merely one of many NWO heels. The angle sunk and we all know why, becuase they did not give the faces any shot at all. It would have been better for sure if they had allowed a face Macho Man to play a raging madman bent on destroying the NWO and not wearing those ridiculous cowboy hats. Just my opinion.

Pretty much the only things that were memorable in his run were:

- Being on the receiving end of the infamous leg drop
- The awesome DDP/Savage feud
- A slightly updated look back in 1999

Other than that, I'd say he was pretty much taking a backseat to Hogan, Nash & Hall.

And much like his WWE career, he spent the entire time being lower than Hogan and being Hogans bitch. Which is why Savage hated Hogan
