Forgotten Legends84: 'Cowboy' Bob Ellis
A real cowboy and war veteran who got into wrestling mostly remembered for inventing Bulldog headlock as a wrestling move other than finding out that reversing figure four leglock would hurt the opponent. A huge star during the 50's and 60's, he started out as Ed "The Strangler" Lewis's protege.
The peak of his career came when he fought Buddy Rogers for the world title in MSG where he reversed the Figure Four much to the cheer of the fans. With six titles to his credit from NWA and WWA and a career spanning over three decades being a huge star for the most of the time, he retired to his ranch by the early eighties being what he was in kayfabe in real.
A truly forgotten legend who headlined MSG and was a huge star during his peak run with memorable feuds with everybody worth mentioning as a heel during his run right from Ox Baker to Bob Orton Sr to Colon to Heenan to Blackjacks to Buddy Rogers.
