Re: I'm I the only one who felt Owen Hart had go away heat in 99?

No. I've been watching RAW eps from 19998 and 1999 for the last few weeks. He is one of the most over heels in late 1998 and early 1999. The nugget chants he'd get and his reactions were always great. Great wrestler as well.

Re: I'm I the only one who felt Owen Hart had go away heat in 99?

After his initial run with the Nation in 1998, Owen drifted in and out of dull feuds with Severn, Shamrock and Steve Blackman. By the time he was teaming with Jeff Jarrett he was overshadowed by him and Debra. He seemed tired and unmotivated at this point. I think he still had what it took to be a creditable midcarder but even if that tragedy never occurred, Owen said himself he would've quit in a couple of years.

"Yes, I can hear you Clem Fandango!"

I always think about the great matches he could have had with the likes of Angle, Benoit and Eddie had he not died when he did. I know he probably never would have become a main event guy, but he still could have had a really good rest of his career.

I don't think he did. Hart was still pretty over as a heel in 1999.

One of the most over heels? Really so why didn't he interact wit DX austin or Mankind who were the top faces. He had nugget chants in 98 afther DX coined that for him. He was always a great wrestler but people didn't really care to see him he go booed cause of that

I don't think go away heat really exists. To me, any heat is good heat if you are a heel.

Wouldn't that have been awesome? I think Owen was at his absolute best, when associated with Bret. Be it the feud in 1994 or the Hart Foundation in 1997, Owen was fan-fucking-tastic. Bulldog and Anvil were doomed to jobbing on Thunder in WCW, but Bret + Owen together would have been gold.

Re: Owen Hart had go away heat in 99

Owen was never really allowed to evolve as a character. Outside of the "blackheart" face run gimmick that was shelved very quickly, Owen played smarmy, chickenshit heel for 5 years B. Everything about Owen may have changed but his role never did.

They ruined the face run, absolutely ruined it. After that, they had nothing for him. He just seemed to drift. I did enjoy the matches with Shamrock though. Both the Dungeon match and the Lion's Den match were fun to me.
