Re: Best year for the Attitude Era?

1998.

The Stone Cold/McMahon feud was at it's best, and it was also the year that The Rock really rose to the top and got over with the fans before turning heel and joining Vince/The Corporation at Survivor Series...starting the epic feud with Mankind that led to great championship matches at Royal Rumble and St Valentines Day Massacre at the start of 1999.

An excellent year. And the first half of it was PG-TV too.

Re: Best year for the Attitude Era?

Why is 1996 listed? The only thing that was "Attitude" then was Austin in the last 2 months which led into the Era come 1997.

Re: Best year for the Attitude Era?

1997-2000.. Man, it's hard to pick just one year, each was amazing imo.

I'd probably say 1999.. Mankind/Corporate Rock program is one of my favorites of all time, Austin/McMahon was still hot with the Rumble ME, Taker was doing some of his best character work with the Ministry, Rock/Sock connection was comedic gold, and overall, the stories were unpredictable.. A lot of the booking was developed just for shock value.

2000 is a close second just because of how awesome the McMahon-Helmsley era was.

Re: Best year for the Attitude Era?

I haven't see any of them in full but from the stuff I've watched, 2000 is absolutely awesome. The Rock and HHH are on fire, Benoit & the Radicalz arrive, Kurt Angle's rise and so on.

I took it off because 1996 is not the Attitude Era. Some people argue that it wasn't official until McMahon made his promo about the change in direction with the product. As far as which year I voted for 1997 based on the Austin/Hart feud, USA/Hart Foundation feud, Michaels/Hart feud, Undertaker's WWF Title reign, the Kane build, DX, awesome matches including arguably the two greatest matches in company history, the most controversial match in company history, and so much more.

1998 is close in storylines with Austin/McMahon, the EPIC Highway To Hell build in the summer, Deadly Game build in the fall, pretty much everything involving Austin/McMahon/Taker/Kane/Foley, The Rock's emergence getting over huge, DX vs. Nation, Taker/Mankind Hell In A Cell, TYSON, and more. The only thing is '98 didn't have as many great matches as '97.

I can't pick just one year. As far as I'm concerned, they were all equally amazing.
