Old rivalries/matches deserving of a HIAC match!

As we know the Hell in a cell match, when it's not being misused as a gimmick match or even a gimmick PPV, it is the match to end a rivalry (or even an era).

So I was thinking, prompted by an article on bleacher report, which matches or rivalries of the past would make for a good HIAC match. Which rivalries needed one and which rivalries would have been escalated because of one.

Hulk Hogan VS Andre The Giant - not that it needed it but it would hae tipped it over the edge.

Hulk Hogan VS Randy Savage - WOW, put this inside hell in a cell and it would have been so brutal.

Steve Austin VS Bret Hart/The Rock/Vince Macmahon - either of these two matches inside Hell in a Cell. Would have been incredible.

Ric Flair VS Ricky Steamboat - Classic rovalry with a classic ending.

Imagine this one...

The Hardy Boyz VS The Dudley Boyz VS Edge and Christian.

So what matches would you go back and change to HIAC?

Which rivalries could of used one? or needed to have one?

Which future rivalries would you expect to have one?

I would have loved to have seen Sabu vs. Taz inside Hell In A Cell just to see how intensely violent they would make it and the crazy spots Sabu would perform.

I also would have loved to have seen Sting vs. Vader in Hell In A Cell. Those two were made to wrestle each other and a grueling match inside the cell with Sting selling for Vader before making his triumphant comeback to slay the monster would have been a perfect end to their series. I would even have loved to have seen a Cage match between the two in WCW.

The hatred and chaotic brawling between Flair and Funk trapped inside Hell In A Cell would have been great too.

Triple H and The Rock faced each other off and on from '96-'02 and I think it would have been awesome to see them inside HIAC especially if we are talking about their 2000 feud.

if Jeff Hardy ever came back i'd like to see Cm Punk vs Jeff Hardy - Hell In A Cell, continuing where they left off in their last feud.

In the future A Cena vs Punk HIAC match would be good to see.

- Austin/McMahon
- Austin/The Rock
- Vince/Shane
- Edge/Cena

But the clear #1 is the Jericho/HBK rivalry.

The most intense fueds I remember, put in of these in a HIAC and I buy the PPV.

Lawler/ Savage : although their cage matches in the rickety old wood and wire cages were pretty intense anyways.

The Fabulous Ones (Keirn and Lane) vs. The Sheepherders (Miller and Williams)

Mark Lewin/ The Original Shiek

Sgt. Slaughter/ Iron Sheik

Roddy Piper/ Greg Valentine

Ric Rude/ Austin Idol

Mr Wrestling 2/ The Masked Assasin

Ray Stevens/ Jimmy Snuka

Dusty Rhodes/ Kevin Sullivan

Freebirds/ Von Erichs

If you ever get a chance to see Lawler vs. Idol in their hair-vs.-hair match from early 1987, their match was inside a cage that had almost the exact look of today's HIAC with the exception of no top on the cage.

Other matches that would deserve that treatment...
Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk
Midnight Express vs. Rock n'Roll Express
Magnum, T.A. vs. Nikita Koloff
Shane Douglas vs. Taz
Raven vs. Sandman
Jerry Lawler vs. Eddie Gilbert
Bruiser Brody vs. Abdullah the Butcher

Tommy Rich vs Buzz Sawyer. They beat the shit out of each other for 18 months before the Last Battle in Atlanta Steel Cage match which sadly never made tape, despite being called one of the best matches of all time by the people in attendance. If any feud warrants a HIAC match, that would be it.

Duggan/Dibiase, Flair/Wahoo and Lawler/Dundee would also be fitting. Man did the 80s deliver when it came to personal blood feuds.

I think Tommy Dreamer/Raven would have made for a good HIAC match. The feud was intense enough to warrant a match like that to possibly give Dreamer his first win over Raven.

Also, I feel a multi man match should have taken place in HIAC, such as DX/NOD in 1998. Also, The 2 Man Power Trip/Hardy Boyz feud should have had a HIAC match or at least Austin & HHH/Kane & Undertaker. That would have been huge.

Austin vs HHH - 3 stages of hell could have ended in a cell instead f a cage match.
Rock vs Foley
Rock vs HHH
Undertaker vs Kane between 97-99
Cena vs Edge
HHH va Orton

I don't think the Austin/ Rock feud would have suited a cell as it was more about Vince and the corporation at first then competitive rivalry rather than pure hatred.

just get some crazy bastards to dress up as Freddy and Jason then let them loose

benoit vs angle tht was an awesome feud when it was done

edge vs cena (06 feud was good nd decent to watch)

bret hart/hbk ( everyone knows why this should have happened)

austin/taker (they have competed in almost every single violent made possible one on one but never in the cell. they drew first blood on each other, fought for survival in a buried alive match went through no holds barred among other matches)

Bret/Austin would be great. It would have logical too on the heels of the submission match, the blood, and Austin never saying "I Quit."

I'm having a hard time figuring out which match I'd want to see more, Bret/Austin or HBK/Jericho. In 2008 after Jericho hit HBK's wife would have been the perfect time. I know they went on to have that street-fight at Unforigven, and it told a very good story. But they could have had that match be a HIAC. Would have been fantastic, IMO.

Had they worked a bit longer together, I would have loved to have seen HBK/Edge. They had that street-fight match on Raw, which was good. They were going down that road of violence, but never got to the point of HIAC. But I always wanted to see them work a full-blown long feud with eachother with a series of one on one PPV matches against one another. They both had great HIAC matches with different opponents in the past, too.
