Forgotten Legends74: Mildred Burke
The woman wrestler who would go on to make the world of women in pro wrestling much easier than it originally was. Starting to wrestle men in carnivals, she joined Billy Wolfe, a promoter going on to marry him and holding NWA Women's title which she never officially lost except for politics for 20 years. She is known to have out wrestled around 200 men in her peak.
But things started going down for her once she divorced him for extra marital affairs and he made sure she did not find it easier anymore. Not the one to give up, she started World Wide Woman's wrestling Association which title she held for long which became highly prized for women in Japan.
Having held 5 world women's title for three decades, running her own promotion in what was called a man's sport in a man's world, she sure is a forgotten legend.
Please feel free to add if I have missed anything for I could not find a lot of information about her.
