Analyze this: Rivalries that built wrestling

Am not talking about WCW vs WWE or NWA vs AWA, am talking about rivalries that were inside a promotion, kayfabe or real, that helped in building up the promotion to great heights. In modern terms, am talking about rivalries like Mr.Mcmahon vs Austin that brought back WWF or Dusty Rhodes vs Ric Flair in NWA or Ric Flair vs Sting in WCW.

Which in your opinion in the best rivalry that built that particular promotion and what made that rivalry so great in real (again boss vs employee is too simple and kayfabeish answer, am asking about how the workers in rivalries contributed to it's greatness like Austin was this spontaneous unpredictable tough guy character while Mr.Mcmahon was this powerful, elaborate, plan oriented guy trying to take him out plan after plan peaking in corporate ministry)?

Spoiler for Give the guy a break:

Hackenshcmidt vs Gotch - Origins of the world heavyweight title.

Lou Thesz vs Buddy Rogers - very important to both NWA and WWE history.

Not removing until:

[ ] Hulk Hogan vs Hawk Hogan

I think the Hulk Hogan vs Sgt. Slaughter feud in 1990-1991 was everything, what wrestling is about.

I accept Hayley Williams rep.

I think Andre/Hogan is what put wrestling on the map. Probably the biggest and most important feud. It was a make or break rivalry.

Their match at Summerslam 2000 was one of my favorites of all time.

Yes, it redefined the tag team division expectations with all three of them having distinct styles, High Flying Hardys, Powerful Dudleys and hybrid E&C complementing each other with their choice of Ladders, Tables and Chairs was simply wonderful

Yes, again, Hogan hulking up being a unstoppable force and Andre being so big and heavy being a immovable object defined the friendship turned rivalry.
