WWF Undisputed - won from Triple H (04-04-2002) & lost to The Undertaker (05-19-2002)

WWE World Tag Team with Edge - won from Billy & Chuck (07-04-2002) & lost to Lance Storm & Christian (07-21-2002)

Disputed/Unrecognized:

NWA World - won from Harley Race (05-??-1979) & stripped that same day
** Hogan pinned Race for the title, but was stripped of the title after review showed he had sent Race over the top rope during the match which was illegal under NWA rules. Title was stripped and returned to Race. NWA does not recognize this switch.

AWA World - won from Nick Bockwinkel (04-18-1982) & stripped (04-24-1982)
** Hogan was champ for 6 days before he was stripped for using Bobby the Brain Heenan's illegal foreign object to win the match. WWE which now owns the AWA does not recognize this title switch.

AWA World - won from Nick Bockwinkel (04-24-1983) & stripped that same day.
** not recognized by WWE.

IWGP - won from Antonio Inoki (06-02-1983) & lost to Antonio Inoki (06-14-1984)
** The IWGP title was originally a once per year tournament of which Hogan was the first champ. There was even a title belt awarded to Hogan. Inoki won the title the next few years, and it eventually became a regularly defended world title. Most sites don't count the tournament wins by Hogan & Inoki in the lineage, but others do.

WCW World - won from Jeff Jarrett (07-09-2000)
** Jarrett laid down for the pin, and Russo gave him a copy of the Big Gold Belt. Never recognized as a title reign by WCW or WWE.

Sting and The Undertaker are the only two wrestlers to have ever beaten Hogan for a world title more than once.

Though Hogan has dominated the head to head series with Ric Flair they are even in world title wins versus each other at one apiece.

Hogan has won three of his 12 official world titles from Randy Savage.

Hmmm, if you count the "unofficial" title reigns I think that puts him at 16? I wouldnt be surprised to see him win the tna title a couple times just to pass flair lol.

Cool trivia, thanks for posting.

Stuff like this is why I love the forum.

You know...for the life of me, I can NOT recall anything at all about Hogan facing Savage for the title in the summer of 1999. To the youtubes, I go. (Y)

Re: Hogan's World Titles

Hulk Hogan's 1993 run was a criminal abuse of status and power. Hulk Hogan muscled his way into an undeserved title reign (after pushing his way inexplicably into the Wrestlemania main event). As if this wasn't bad enough, he disappeared from the WWF almost immediately after the win - going to Japan where he publically trashed the WWF title. When he did drop the title, he dropped the belt in an overbooked shit fest against Yokozuna (instead of being a man and passing the torch to Bret Hart). Hogan shouldn't have been allowed back in the WWF after that.

Instead of everyone getting pissed at Hogan, why not go off on McMahon? Hes the one who allowed it.

McMahon didn't refer to the WWF title as a 'trinket' and 'christmas decoration' in press conferences, though. And according to Hart, McMahon planned Hulk Hogan vs Bret Hart in a big match at Summerslam 1993 in which Hogan would pass the title to Hart. Hogan bitched out on the idea because he was scared of the fan reaction. I know that Hart isn't the most reliable source but, based on Hogan's reputation and conduct at the time, I think it's more than plausible.

Whoever is responsible, they totally devalued the championship. With no TV appearances, they basically didn't have a champion or main event angle for three months. And for what? A cheap pop at Wrestlemania.

Re: Hogan's World Titles

I've got a few videos here concerning the unrecognized world title reigns of Hulk Hogan.

Here is a match with Terry "The Hulk" Boulder (one of Hogan's former ring names) against a jobber. In this match they talk about Hogan having been the NWA champ for approximately 37 seconds in reference to the unrecognized title win over Harley Race. I can't find the specific day in May that the match took place as records are incomplete on the internet. I do not know of any surviving video of the actual match between Terry Boulder & Harley Race.

Here is the second half of the first unrecognized AWA title win over Nick Bockwinkel. As stated above, Hogan held the AWA title for 6 days before he was stripped, and the title returned to Bockwinkel. It's poor quality video.

The second win over Bockwinkel for the AWA title was the exact same gimmick used in the NWA title win over Harley Race. Hogan was found to have thrown Bockwinkel over the top rope so the title win was disqualified, and the belt returned to Bockwinkel in what was the biggest mistake a promoter ever made. This moment is what began the downfall of the AWA though they would survive till 1990, but they were now seen as second tier. Had Verne put the strap on Hogan, and ran with him as long term champion it is unlikely that Vince McMahon takes over the wrestling world.

This match is the one in which Hogan defeated Anonio Inoki for the first ever IWGP championship. This is the last 1/3 of the match where Hogan KO's Inoki which was considered on the same level as a pin or sumission in Japan in those days. At the end of the video you will see the first IWGP title belt being awarded to Hogan.

And finally, here is the unrecognized WCW title win over Jarrett.

Look at that, loses WCW Title after more than a year to The Giant (who he claims he put over/made), and then later on wins it back from The Giant. Loses to Luger, wins it back from Luger. Loses to Goldberg, who loses to Nash, who gives it back via a fingerpoke. He did the same with The Undertaker. Also note how he beat Savage 3 times for a World Title and never returned the favour. He only dropped the belt to big guys or very established names (Sting/Flair), instead of talented up and coming guys like Hart. The loss to Ultimate Warrior reminded me of the story that he begged Turner to bring back Warrior to wrestling, to WCW, just so he could avenge that loss at WM.

He had creative control.

Doesnt mean he gets to just walk into any title match he wanted. Had Vince never had him go out there at Mania, none of this wouldve happened.

That definitely would have been a really good match. A perfect mixture of showmanship and technical abilities. It would also reveal that Hogan in the WWF is a shitty wrestler, while Hart will show-off sharpshooter-after-sharp-shooter, suplex-after-suplex. Would've been a legendary bout.

These past events also show why Cena is a wayyy better worker than Hogan despite their similarities.
