Default Analyze this: WWE and Era definition in Pro-wrestling

Starting with Gold Dust Trio who expanded pro-wrestling to it's present form of flash and gimmicks, the eras have usually included all wrestling promotions as in when one does it, everyone follows and it becomes an era.

The television era was when every promotion across the country fought for and were in the television making it an era by itself. When the national explosion happened, it changed pro-wrestling a lot for WWF domination began along with Hogan's.

Till then, an Era was called for when all the promotions were a part of it no matter who was the leader but with the advent of national WWF, the era segregation started to become largely limited to it's changes and suddenly we started to have rock 'n' wrestling connection "era", new generation era when it's major stars defected to WCW, the attitude era while edgy programming was already around in ECW and WCW before WWE followed by Ruthless Aggression and now, P.G era.

The WWE eras did not count the other promotions like AWA, NWA, WCW, ECW, TNA timelines and kept within itself and through revision made most of us believe that it was an era by itself.

How did the advent of WWE as the single top promotion affected the era definitions in pro-wrestling in your opinion and is it a healthy trend for pro-wrestling in general?

Aren't you pratically answering it already with your question? WWE as the single top promotion will afect the minor promotions don't you agree?

Not exactly, am giving my Point of view which will vary from person to person. Though the top promotion affects the eras, it affects as in influencing the other smaller promotions to follow through making it a trend and not merely taking over the era definitions by themselves. For egs, ROH and TNA still keeps up with the blood and chair trend while WWE alone chooses to let it only for special cases, we still call the era PG era based on WWE which, from my understanding, was not the case before. TV era had all promotions fighting for TV, not just NWA going to television. That is the difference I see.
