That's not true. I remember seeing some old Sheik promos where he calls his opponents jabroni's. I don't want to go look now but tomorrow or some other day, I find some for you.

Re: Did these catchphrases start in Wrestling?

i have heard jabroni alot before i ever heard the rock saying it, but maybe that is from growing up in an italian family

me and my friends used to tell eachother we were gonna smach eachother down all the time when we were in middle and high school...this was back in the early 90s...

and 4 life was heard alot to in the early 90s in rap, also back in school you would always see people that were dating or something write so and so 4 life....with the bottom of the 4 making the L in life....

wrestling just main streamed it...i mean, rock and NWO had to get them from somewhere...

Re: Did these catchphrases start in Wrestling?

I have read that the Rock got a lot of his catchphrases from those blaxploitation movies from the late 60s and 70s, maybe Jabroni or Smack down popped up in them.

For Life though, I would assume is such a generic term it had been used countless times before NWO. Even used as '4-life' is just the way things were in the 90s. If it was 2002, it would have been 4-lyf. Haha.

Austin used jabroni in some of his ecw promos during his stint there. Long before the rock was cooking anything

4-Life came from Mack-10, the rapper, which Yokozuna listened to when Razor & Diesel were still in WWF.
