Serious Question: Why again did Taker throw Mankind off of Hell in the Cell?

Who called the spot? Did foley ask to be thrown off? Was it a spur of the moment type thing? Because iirc the chokeslam through the cage was not a planned spot. But these guys had some time to plan what they were going to do before Taker threw him off.

And bonus question, if the spot was indeed planned, was that the finish for the match before foley decided to get up and go for more?

Yes the spot was planned. Taker isn't some mad man that does big things like that in the spur of the moment.

Mick came up with the idea and yes it was planned he'd go back up.

I remember reading that Taker was against the spot but Foley wanted both of them, and that Taker was very professional and knew how not to hurt them afterwards so it seems Foley wanted it and
yes i think that was the finish and he probably did the getting up thing to get the fans going again after that break they had^^

The throwing off the top of the cell was planned although Taker didn't want it to and Foley intended to go back up but if I remember right from Foleys book the Cell wasn't meant to give way so easily. Even just watching them walk on it you can see it falling apart.

The chair wasn't meant to come through the cell with Foley either, according to his book. Certainly added a lot to the match, being knocked unconscious though!

The idea apparently stemmed from Mick talking to Terry Funk. Mick always professed that he "sucked" in cage matches and was worried this would never live upto the first HIAC match, as Undertaker also had a broken foot and it was like their 6th PPV encounter and no one would be that excited about it.

So he had a conversation with Terry that stemmed into a big joke, it started with them beginning the match on top of the Cell, him being thrown off the cell and then getting back up and all these crazy spots - and then Mick got serious like "I think I can do it".

So it was all Mick's idea as far as the two competitors go, and I'm pretty certain he also had to seriously talk 'Taker into agreeing to it (in his words, it'd look stupid if he climbed up there to start on top of the cage and 'Taker just walked inside, refusing - so he had to be on board beforehand).

Although he never came out and said it, in his book Foley basically said falling through the cage with the chair coming with him was much more dangerous for his life than when he was thrown off. That wasn't supposed to happen, and if the chair hit him it would have killed him.

Although he busted his teeth, ribs, and shoulder he actually fell about as good as possible from the top of the cage, which does have a great deal to do with the almost perfect way Undertaker threw him.

To have the most memorable match of his career. I loved how Ric Flair was being a whiny bitch about it when his feud with Foley on TV. Jealousy at its finest.
