Re: Serious Question: Why again did Taker throw Mankind off of Hell in the Cell?

I bet the Undertaker was going nuts with worry in his mind after it happened. Clearly he would not of known if it was a success until Mankind got back up, as it anything good of happened in that spot..

Further note. Do you think it was agreed for them to lift the cell whilst Taker was still on top? They found out early on how the top wasn't the most stable. I would of been pissed if I was Taker and they did without consent!

Also I find it hard to believe the second spot was not planned. Even if Foley says it wasn't. If you watch the match, what kind of move were they trying to do? I really crap botched choke slam?? It clearly looks like Taker is trying to push him through...

What a great moment in wrestling. Absolutely insane. I am going to go back and watch this match.

One of the more awesome things I've seen in my 21 years as a wrestling fan. Of course it was planned. If not you would have had Foley peeved with The Undertaker

Of course it was planned! You can't just call a spot like that on the fly. Not only was Foley at risk but so were the cameramen, the commentators, the announcers etc. etc.

I'm not sure who came up with the spot but they're a feckin genius. Especially seeing as Foley came out of it relatively fine and its probably the most iconic image in the history of pro-wrestling.

I would say Mankind Vs. Undertaker HIAC is arguably the most emotional match in wrestling history. Mick Foley showed everybody around the world that night what the power of the human spirit can do.

I suppose. I'd really say it was a famous moment, not the match itself, but that's probably just dissecting it too much.

Funny thing about the fall through the Cell was the story Foley put in his book. He said it was the best and worst chokeslam he ever took in that he ended up falling 15 feet to the canvas below, but he never LEFT his feet going up for the move. If the top didn't break it just would've been a horrible attempt at a chokeslam. Even worse than Hogan taking it at Judgment Day '02!

Taker's answer to his thought process after throwing Mick - "I thought you were dead."

Taker also worked the match with a broken ankle. You can see him visibly wince when he leaps down through the middle after Mick fell.

Re: Serious Question: Why again did Taker throw Mankind off of Hell in the Cell?

Mick was out of his mind in those days. Yeah it was a crowd popper, but I didn't think it was worth the risk to health. I don't want to see a guy kill himself on TV. It was bad enough when it happened to Owen on accident.

i think it is definately in the top 5, i would say 5th. It wasnt just the two spots, the match in whole was excellent.
