Re: How big was Ultimate Warrior in his prime?

Warrior/Hogan were like Rock/Austin for a very brief time. He was hugely over in his time but didn't have a very long run for various reasons. He reminds me a bit of Goldberg in that regard.

Re: How big was Ultimate Warrior in his prime?

First I would agree with others. The Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior is just a way to smear Warrior and make money. It's easily the worst DVD the WWE has put out.

That being said he was a pretty big. He could draw money and put butts in seats. Really isn't that the name of the game. When he was paired with Savage, you could get a good match out of him. Mostly a credit to Savage, but they had some good matches. He couldn't cut a good promo at all, but at the same time he has some very memorable promos. The WM match with Hogan will always be his biggest moment. Although I have some fond memories of the awful feuds with Papa Shango and The Undertaker. But people came to see him and he had a very strong following. I think as a kid if you didn't like Hogan, Warrior was probably your guy.

Ultimate Warrior was the only person who may have surpassed Hogan but things did not go as planned.

The guy was probably one of the most over guys in the company from 1989-1991. Shame that the guy was unreliable because his character was extremely interesting. He was my first favourite wrestler.

I'd say he was around 6'1-6'2, maybe wheighing around 280lbs in his prime

Re: How big was Ultimate Warrior in his prime?

You could count on one hand the amount of superstars more over than Warrior during his peak. I remember being a kid in the early 90's and he was easily just as over as Hogan. At that age you were either a Hogan kid or a Warrior kid, and if I'm being perfectly honest it was split right down the middle.

Lol in fact I'll never forget it. I remember when Wrestlemania Challenge was released for NES... as a dedicated 6 year old hulkamaniac, I was actually jealous that Warrior was the "final boss" in the game and not Hogan. It signified that Warrior was top dog at the time, but then again that's probably just because he held the belt. Still though, you had to fight Hogan before you got to Warrior. The message was clear.

Re: How big was Ultimate Warrior in his prime?

He was pretty big, second only to Hogan for a couple of years. But Im not sure how much of a draw he was.

Re: How big was Ultimate Warrior in his prime?

I'd dare to say, at one point, just as over as Hogan. Big picture history won't show that but at one time it was the case.
