Isnt Ironic how after the match with Shawn where Vader fucked up, his career went completley south?? You cant just call that bad luck, Shawn got in Vinces ear and taht was it for him. Vader as a monster still couldve drawn money in programs with Austin,Taker,Rock...etc....it wasnt just bad luck.
WWE tried with Undertaker/Vader and The Undertaker destroyed him just as Sid Vicious had done and by early 1997 it was basically all over for Vader as far as WWE goes. I don't see it as ironic though as it isn't unheard of for a heel to be built up just for the top babyface to go over to look strong as we saw lots of people built up for Hulk Hogan like Paul Orndoff, King Kong Bundy, Zeus and Earthquake or what about Umaga, The Great Khali and The Nexus who were built up for John Cena to go over so why not Vader for Shawn Michaels.
Vader also drank too much and was too stiff for some folks .... it was a lot of factors ... perfect storm ....

This is definitely a contributing factor, he was a stiff worker, which is why he had great matches with Foley because Foley is a sick bastard who is willing to take those blows. But someone like HBK, a prima donna who loves his body, would never allow Vader to work his monster style against him and perhaps rightfully so.

Vader was much more talented than all those heels you named......and Michaels wasn't nearly the draw or champion that Hogan and Cena were/are(obviously Michaels is a much better wrestler). So I don't see it as the same. I would've preferred to see Vader win the title and have a dominant run......where, with all those other heels, I did not want to see that.

The difference between Vader and most of the guys is that he was a HUGE star before he got to the wwf. It was the first time Vince could grab a huge star from the other company, not the other way around...he got one of THEIR guys. Its like how TNA got Kurt Angle, they didnt just bring him in, have him lose to one of there guys and just push him aside, they made him a major player(as much as i disagree with his pushes sometimes) and hes one of there biggest stars. WWF should have done the same with Vader but they ruined it. Theres no arguing this one, sorry. WWF fucked Vader over and more importantly, themselves.
