Forgotten Legends 1: Arn Anderson

Always the Bridesmaid, never the bride. He was always pushed behind Ric Flair be it promos or matches but one cannot but admire his no nonsense style of wrestling and technical abilities.

Why was he content with the second position to Flair and why do you think he was not able to break through?

Honestly, positioning in wrestling is only focused on by us, the fans.

IMO, he didn't breakthrough and surpass Flair because he was happy with where he was at and understood his role. Sometimes, you have to set ego aside and do whats better for the business. Flair was a HUGE draw and brought in business, which made for better business for his co-workers.

I don't feel he is underrated but I do feel he is often overlooked by fans because he wasn't a main eventer. But, if you look back at his career, he was part of some of the biggest & best angles & stables in WCW history. He was part of the Horsemen's dominance of the 80s, a key member of the Dangerous Alliance and a big part of the WCW/NWO for quite some time. People choose to overlook things like that because he didn't always compete in the last match of the show. When you are as talented as Double A was, card placement means nothing and true fans of wrestling will still recognize your contributions to the business.

Arn Anderson was a great midcarder.

Double A doesn't like to toot his own horn, but TOOT TOOT!

I don't think he's forgotten. Anytime anyone does a spinebuster I remember they're only second place to the pretty as a picture Double A Spinebuster!

People who saw him wrestle back in the day will never forget the guy. Current fans (kids) simply don't know him. You mention Anderson they'll shout "Kennedy!" or "Mr. Anderson!"

Always preferred Arn over Flair.

Re: Forgotten Legends 1: Arn Anderson

I never did understand why he always played second to Flair. Imagine the horsemen broke up in the 80's then him and Flair could have had a legitimate feud (not that short lived WCW bullshit) that I think the fans would have gotten into especially if they had feuded over the NWA or WCW title. For example Hogan/Savage feuded 80's, HHH/HBK feuded and both were decent feuds the whole "former best friends" angle but I think applied to AA/Flair over the NWA title in the 80's would have been one of the all time great feuds. Have given AA his rightfully due title reigns or at least one anyway.

Arn Anderson in my opinion and keep in mind I'm old school but in my opinion he is the greatest wrestler never to have held a World title. He could go in the ring, could talk, and the fans good or bad reacted to him.

Arn was amazing on the mic and very good in the ring, but he looked like a doofus, and he seemed to accept that fact. I don't think he really wanted to be the star.
