As the title says!!

I was watching Over The Edge 1999 live on PPV with my older cousins. At first I thought it was just one of vince's sick twisted storylines, but when I saw the emotions of the commentators I knew something wasn't right. Then JR said "This is not part of the show" I started tearing up and hoping Owen will pull through (Since I was a big fan of Owen). Then when the announces said he has just passed away, I couldn't believe it.

The blue blazer gimmick was such a stupid gimmick and to think if it wasn't for that stupid gimmick Owen would still be with us today!

Anyone on this forum actually at the Kemper Arena when this tragedy happened?

i was,it was disturbing to watch. once he fell he lifted his head up but then dropped it back down quickly,they say he died within that minute

I was just watching the PPV after I come home from school (taped it the previous evening obviously) and when they showed the wide shot of the arena after the Blue Blazer video package for a couple of minutes, I was just confused. Then when they said that he fell from the top of the building my first actual reaction was of shock, and 'he'll live' and 'I'm glad I didn't get to see it'. Then when JR said that he died they should've called off the PPV there and then.

I was 11 years old at the time. My mom saw it on the news the morning after, woke me up quickly and told me. I remember jumping out of bed to see the TV. Just shocking.

I didn't order the PPV. I had just walked back home after a bonfire at a friend's house and turned on the news. First story of the night? Owen's death. The color drained from my face and I got that sunken chest feeling when you know it's bad news.

Just a horribly planned stunt that turned into tragedy. It shouldn't have happened.

Was playing one of the Rainbow Six games at someone's house while the PPV was going on an d technically missed the initial fall, had to be told he fell and it may not of been planned. JR started talking about it not being scripted, and I began paying attention after that. As soon as Lawler returned and sat down next to JR - the look on his face told me that at least Lawler figured he was dead or going to die.



Can see about 8 min into the video that Lawler basically knew.

Did you actually see him drop, or after the fall?
Because I heard the lights were off when the fall occurred and then turned on when he was down in the ring.

I have always felt that this was done on purpose. As sick as it sounds, I think Vince did it to get back at Bret.

Think about it.

The coincidences:

Over the Edge - Owen went Over the Edge. Coincidence? I think not.
Ambulance - Vince didn't want Owen in the Ambulance because he wanted the ambulance for a segment later in the show.
Over the limit 2010 - was on the same date as Owen's death. Edge was on the PPV poster, Over The EDGE???

I was playing under-11 football/soccer at a tournament that morning and I was tired and slept early. My brother told me about how Owen fell the day after Over The Edge '99. I laughed until my brother told me he died I've felt bad about it ever since
