Re: In celebration of Independence Day:
I watched the Flair vs Sting match, as part of an "Best matches of all time" list.
Great stuff, don't know about the rest of the card.

Re: In celebration of Independence Day:
Well, if you miss tag team wrestling, this is a great card to watch. You have The Steiner Brothers, The Southern Boys, The Midnight Express, The Rock N' Roll Express, The Fabulous Freebirds & Doom all wrestling in tag matches.

Plus it's always fun to see old familiar faces like Paul Heyman and The Undertaker.

Re: In celebration of Independence Day:
Sure, might watch it later.

Oh, btw, I always jokingly say this when watching that WHC match: "Scott Steiner moving Flair's feet of the rope is basically his career highlight".

Re: In celebration of Independence Day:
This has Express vs Southern Boys. One of the best tag matches of all time.

Re: In celebration of Independence Day:
Like 1987ish to 1992ish NWA/WCW is one of my favorite eras/promotions in all of wrestling. I just loved the presentation. Sure, there's early 90's AJPW & some 1996-1998 ECW and the WCW/nWo '97 or WWF 98-99. But for me, this was my favorite era of wrestling.

Seeing early 'Taker is always surreal for me. It's like my brain refuses to accept that it's the same guy.

Gonna watch this tonight, haven't watched a vintage PPV in ages.

Re: In celebration of Independence Day:
This was the PPV i marked out for most up until WrestleMania 12 as i grew up a NWA/JCP/WCW fan as a kid and Sting was the first wrestler i ever marked for and still to this day he is alongside Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin as my all time favorite. Ric Flair did such a great job of building Sting up and making him a genuine superstar and the match whilst not the best they ever had was great from a storyline perspective and seeing Sting finally win the World title was a HUGE moment for me in wrestling.

The rest of the card was quite good as Steiner/Freebirds, Rock and Roll Express/Doom and Midnight Express/Southern Boys were all very good matches and highlighted just how great tag team wrestling was back then especially in NWA/WCW. Tom Zenk/Vader was a good way of making Vader look like a monster but he wasn't wrestling regularly in NWA/WCW back then for some reason and we had to wait about a year for him to become a permanent fixture. Lex Luger was probably at his best in between 1989 and 1992 as an in ring worker but The Undertaker as we know him as now was still very greem back then but all in all a great PPV for me personally as a kid.

Re: In celebration of Independence Day:
There's actually quite a few full shows, in decent video quality, on YouTube nowadays. It wouldn't be hard to do some sort of thread, ala the RAW thread, where we could watch a show together & discuss it as we go or something.

But I've been watching a lot of old NWA & Puro on there lately. It's been great. More than enough material to give me my fix. :-)
