Default Did the WWF Championship ever change hands on Smackdown?

Before the brand-split, did the WWF Championship ever change hands on Smackdown? If so, who won it? I was just curious because I don't remember.

Vince won it on there in 1999, but vacated it on RAW.

Brock Lesnar won it from Kurt Angle back in 2003.

It wasn't WWF title and it was after brand split.

Ehm....so? Still counts. The WWF Title is obviously same thing as the WWE Title.

Default Re: Did the WWF Championship ever change hands on Smackdown?

SmackDown didn't really see WWE title changes as Vince McMahon even as far back as then always pushed Raw as the top show with SmackDown simply being a continuation show for the feuds. Over the course of a year and a half Raw saw WWE title changes in Stone Cold Steve Austin beating Kane in 1998 and The Undertaker in 1999, The Rock and Mick Foley beating each other in early 1999 and Triple H beating The Big Show in early 2000 whereas SmackDown only saw Vince McMahon beat Triple H in latter 1999.

After that year and a half period it was very rare for someone to be crowned WWE champion on Raw as Vince McMahon reserved WWE title changes for PPV unless someone was vacating it due to being either injured or suspended such as Edge winning in mid 2006 because of Rob Van Dam being suspended, Randy Orton winning in mid 2009 because of Batista being injured, The Miz winning in late 2010 after cashing in his Money In The Bank match, Rey Mysterio after CM Punk "leaving" in mid 2011 and John Cena after beating Rey Mysterio a week or two later.

I actually used to love WWE putting on WWF/WWE title matches on Raw with there being title changes as it made viewing much more unpredictable which in the age of the internet in full force in a rarity. Some people don't like seeing mulitple title changes because it cheapens the title prestige but i'm a believer in that if it is two big stars it makes the title seem like the most important thing in the world. I'd love to see Cena/Punk or Cena/Lesnar with the two trading the WWE title over two or three PPV's and maybe once on Raw as well because it makes the WWE title become the main focus at all times and battled over by two big stars just like when Austin/Undertaker, Rock/Triple H, Rock/Foley, Angle/Lesnar and Cena/Edge all did.

ya i like title matches on free tv as well, i remember hogan/luger on the 100th nitro was awesome, you don't want to do it often but once or twice a year would be great, makes you want to tune in

and even though smackdown was always the b show, i thought at times it was better, when it first aired in 99 i thought many weeks it was the better show, especially the first several months, i guess they wanted to make sure fans would tune in, but i remember some very good smackdown shows early on like the first one, and the buried alive tag team match, etc

In that case, no, only time it ever changed hands was when Vince won it.

But, you're wrong about it not being the WWF/WWE Title. WWE Title wasn't really the primary belt back then and was Smackdown's championship.
