Save Wrestlemania XIV
WM 14 was Austin's moment where he beat Michaels and DX and thus began the McMahon feud the next night on raw. I am wondering what you all think the WWF would have done had Austin been injured right before the event. It is obvious from the previous weeks that Austin was carrying things and was by far the biggest guy in the company. Could the WWF have salvaged the main event without Austin? Would Michaels just have been given off and let Kane/Taker main event the show? That event was such a big deal for the WWF, what would they have done if it would not have worked out perfectly like it did?
And no I don't think Savio Vega would be a good replacement for Austin
(If you never saw No Way Out of Texas you wouldnt understand)
Post what you think.

Probably paying Tyson more to wrestle, then doing Tyson/HBK as the main event. Even with Austin, there was no chance that they were going to do HALF the business and publicity without Tyson.

Re: Save Wrestlemania XIV
Tyson was the turning point for the WWF where they started really kicking it to WCW after their year and a beat demolish in the ratings war. If Austin wasn't around it would have been Tyson/Shawn somehow, Vince would have payed him double what he was getting that night and to fight, and if Austin was able to he might have been the special enforcer instead.
Though I think the better question, more realistic one would have been what would they have done had Shawn not been able to compete. Shawn was in a bad way as it was with his back and could barely walk properly come the event, they also tried their best to keep Shawn out of matches such as the No Way Out of Texas and a few more before the event just to be sure he wouldn't get any worse.

If Shawn hadn't left in 1998, I suspect that Tyson vs HBK would have been booked at some point. It would've been a great main event match for Summerslam.
Back in 1998, when I was still a kid, I thought that Mike Tyson was going to become a wrestler in 1998. I was really excited at the prospect of Austin or Undertaker facing Iron Mike. It would've been great!

Re: Save Wrestlemania XIV
Austin V Tyson would be the record PPV number if they had booked that in 1998.

Re: Save Wrestlemania XIV
They could've easily put Triple H in his place had they known in time.
The feud him and Michaels had from 2002-2004, they would've started back in 1998 and continued when HBK eventually would come back.
They could turn HBK face and make HHH the heel, put the belt on Triple H and if he's not ready to run with it, then put the title on Kane, Taker or someone third the night after.

Re: Save Wrestlemania XIV
There's a part of the actual story that you're missing. Shawn Michaels refusing to do the job before hand and backstage pressure having to be put on him to make him see sense. Imagine though, if half way through the match he just fucked off and went out of a side exit, Mania 14 would have been ruined. The company would have taken a significant hit, just when they were getting into full force and WCW could have ran away with it and become THE company today.
