Why was Shawn Michaels/Sid Vicious at SummerSlam 95 scrapped ??

The other thread in this section on good things in 1995 got me thinking about that year and even though it was a shocking year for wrestling as a whole overall there were a few bright spots with Shawn Michaels/Razor Ramon at Summerslam being one of them. How many people on these forums were watching back then i don't know but Shawn Michaels/Razor Ramon at Summerslam was never the plan until a few weeks before as it was meant to be Shawn Michaels/Sid Vicious which had been teased and held off since the night after WrestleMania 11 when Sid Vicious attacked Shawn Michaels.

I'm certainly not complaining of the fact we got to see Shawn Michaels/Razor Ramon in another Ladder match as it was every bit as good, if not better, as the original at WrestleMania 10 and showed what great chemistry those two had but there was no interaction between them outside of at the end of a match between Shawn Michaels and Jerry Lawler on Raw in which Sid Vicious and Razor Ramon both became involved in. It's as if WWE just simply pulled the plug of Shawn Michaels/Sid Vicious for no reason and then didn't even want to build Shawn Michaels/Razor Ramon up and then just did Shawn Michaels/Sid Vicious on Raw to end their on/off six month feud.

Honestly? I've always gotten the impression that both Shawn and Sid never really liked one another and I also get the feeling that Shawn was supposed to job to the title to Sid but flat out refused to do so which is why I think they went with Razor/Shawn 2.

I like how he still had to job the title to Sid a year later anyway.

Bc Shawn wanted to work with his friend and go over rather than wrestle stiff Sid and get Hall a bigger payday.

Would have been pretty interesting. In retrospect, the entire year of 1995 could have been so much better, with their talents better utilized. Summer of 1995 especially.

Bret Hart - British Bulldog: WWF Title feud
Sid Justice - Shawn Michaels
Razor Ramon - 123 Kid: Intercontinental Title feud
Owen Hart & Yokozuna - Smoking Gunns: Tag Team Title feud (Not a Yoko fan, but Camp Cornette was fucking awesome)
Lex Luger - Diesel (Have Luger sell out to DiBiase)

That has got to be Kane.

Me too. I was a huge Sid mark back then and I remember it really pissed me off seeing Sid get buried by the kliq in his 2nd run with the WWE.

Thank god for his 3rd run though because I couldn't stand HBK back then (love him now though) and I doubt I would of continued watching if he didn't drop the title to Sid at SS 1996.

Sid may have been a stiff but he was a fucking over stiff especially in north America. Got to give him that.

Re: Why was Shawn Michaels/Sid Vicious at SummerSlam 95 scrapped ??

I don't think Shawn really enjoyed working with Sid as he said in his book that he was a god awful worker. Shawn said it took a miracle to just get a decent match out of Sid and he felt very proud of himself whenever he worked with him and it resulted in something even decent. It was much easier on Shawn to have a good match with Scott Hall and he was also good friends with him so I'm sure Shawn put out the word to Vince. I'm not complaining though because Sid is truely god awful while Shawn and Scott had amazing chemistry and pulled off arguably a better match than the one at WrestleMania.

Scott Hall and Kevin Nash have always said that The Clique got on really well and were great friends with Sid Vicious in WWE and so much so they pushed for WCW to sign Sid Vicious back in 1998 or 1999 and he even ended up getting a better contract then they did.

Re: Why was Shawn Michaels/Sid Vicious at SummerSlam 95 scrapped ??

It was probably purely selfish reasons on HBK's part. Perhaps he felt he needed to get back the win that Hall got over him at WM X or something.

I totally marked out when Sid beat Shawn at Survivors 96 for the belt. I despised HBK back then.
