Why did Ken Shamrock call Undertaker Mark? I know it's his name but was it because of some backstage heat, or was it planned? I don't remember anyone else calling Undertaker by his first name and I think no one ever would be allowed to do that.

It did make Ken look more bad ass imo by calling udnertaker by his real name. This feud I think led to the Backlash match they had. Pretty good match imo.

Ahh bummer. I don't remember him saying "Mark." But if it was my guess, I'd assume it was just Shamrock's seemingly unprofessional conduct. He just seemed awkward and a bit stupid at times.

It was planned. The storyline in the Vince/Ministry angle is that Taker started to believe in his own gimmick. Vince said it in a promo before WM15, "I think you started to believe in the gimmick, you started to believe that you're really "The Undertaker", Mark Calaway", something like that. So it wasn't the first time. That was a Russo style reality-based work/shoot angle.

On the topic of Shamrock what an awesome wrestler he was, it shows the quality of wrestlers that are missing today compared to the attitude era that he never got higher than intercontinental level. If he was around today he'd be world champion or up there no doubt.

^ Rock's got it right. I also remember Stephanie referring to Undertaker as Mark during the phase of the storyline where he was stalking her. If I recall correctly, Shamrock's involvement was a result of Taker trying to abduct his sister.
