Re: Rick Rude
Rude was a phenomenal heel... probably the best heel ever. 'Cut the music' that shit was awesome! his feud with Jake Roberts was one of the best feuds in the history of the WWF. He knew how the fuck to draw heat... the young hacks from the current roster should watch some promos of Rick Rude and learn.

Re: Rick Rude
Rude is a 3 time NWA World/WCW International Champion. Shame that he hurt his back in Japan and had his career pretty much ended.
I enjoyed his non wrestling work in ECW the most. I like how Rude debuted wearing a mask and people didn't know who he was. Then, he spoke on the mic and the arena went crazy, realizing it was Rude. Him and Shane Douglas had a good angle that saw Brian Lee leave the Triple Threat, Bigelow leave the Triple Threat, challenge and defeat Douglas for the ECW Title. Also, Rude wasn't too bad of a color commentator. I can remember just like yesterday when Rude debuted in WCW as The Halloween Phantom and feuded with Sting.
I suppose the reason he isn't HOF is because of the way he died. Definately should be there.

i think the real reason why he isn't in the HOF is because the way of how he debuted on Nitro than the way he died.

But, he wasn't under contract to WWE when that happened. So basically, he was free to go wherever he wanted. Not to mention he was upset about the Screwjob and didn't want to be there anymore.
Various guys are in the HOF who have done some wild things. But, how many are in for overdosing on drugs? I understand the Von Erich family is but that was the deal in order to get the WCCW library. But, who else that overdosed or is living but had well known drug problems is in the HOF?
And also, in a 1 week span, he appeared on RAW, Nitro and ECW Hardcore TV.

Re: Rick Rude
Awesome performer and entertainer. The guy personified everything a heel ought to be.
Agree about the pre match promo's, they were hilarious. 'What I would like to have right now is for all you fat, out of shape, Atlantic City Sweathogs keep the noise, whilst I give the ladies a look at the sexiest man alive!!' Fucking fantastic. Definitely should have been a WWF champion, was much more talented than that crazy moron Warrior.

Re: Rick Rude
Always said Rick Rude was a great in ring worker and one of the greatest heels of all time but he was unfortunate in his initial WWE run that he was there when Hulk Hogan was as no one was going to be WWE champion whilst he was there. I believe that from the minute Hulk Hogan won the WWE title for the first time in 1984 all the way through to 1992 when he first left only five people in Ric Flair, Randy Savage, Andre The Giant, The Ultimate Warrior and The Undertaker held the WWE title at all which kind of shows how dominant Hulk Hogan really was pushed as on screen.
It wasn't a surprise that Rick Rude had much more success in WCW because WCW was always the workers company and emphasized in ring quality whereas WWE was more focused on characters and storylines. I remember watching Halloween Havoc when Rick Rude debuted as The Phantom and squashed Tom Zenk which was the starting point for The Dangerous Alliance stable consisting of Rick Rude, Stunning Steve Austin, Arn Anderson, Larry Zbysko, Bobby Eaton, Paul Heyman and Madusa which is probably the most underrated stable ever.
He did actually become a World champion which was at a time when WCW were fully trying to break away from the NWA and become their own company with their own identity and titles and Rick Rude was their first ever World champion after beating Ric Flair at Fall Brawl in 1993 but it was called the WCW International World title and he actually won it for the third time in his last ever match against Sting in Japan. Rick Rude had to retire after that match though because he hit his back on part of the platform outside the ring but he had a good career and ended up a three time World champion, former Intercontinental champion, former US champion and will always be regarded as one of the very best heels of all time.

Re: Rick Rude
One of my favorite guys ever. I missed him winning World titles though I never knew anything about that. In any event he was awesome, and worthy of the HOF. I think he will be there eventually, despite his problems w/ Vince over the screwjob and him jumping ship to WCW. Rick Rude is too great to deny.

Re: Rick Rude
Rude developed a "refuse to job" attitude in WCW and would have been fired before Hogan got there in 1994. He flat out stated to the locker room that he would not job to Flair or Hogan, but that wasn't it. He refused to job to Vader, and they had to beg him to put Sting back over as he was balking at that too. A lot of wrestlers did not trust Rude in the ring either.

Curt Hennig died of a cocaine overdose and he's in the HOF.
