Sting - A WWE Career That Never Happened

Sting, arguably the greatest wrestler to never work for Vince McMahon. Say Sting had made the jump to WWF for The Invasion or even if The Invasion never happened and he did make the jump at some point, could be 90's, early 00's, you name it. Other than the highly dreamed up match between Sting & The Undertaker, which other individuals would you have liked to see Sting feud with that he never got the chance to do in WCW. This might seem like a fantasy booking thread but that's not what I want to achieve here, just wanted to get some opinions on who you guys would have liked to see Sting feud with in the WWF

My Picks:

Shawn Michaels - Shawn Michaels, in my opinion the best heel of '97 vs. Sting, in my opinion the best face of '97 These two could have had a clinic in any period and that's not a joke but in '97, I think their characters could have went, and delivered as I said, a clinic. Both were great workers and being honest, I would have liked to have seen this match a lot more than Sting/Undertaker.

The Rock - Although this goes out of the 'rules' of the Classic section, I'd have this take place at WrestleMania 18 as part of the whole Invasion angle which would have began in 2001. So yeah, this would be in 2002 but this is the only rule I'll break here. :p The Rock being (one of) the faces of the WWF and Sting being the face of WCW. Yeah, Sting has slown down quite a bit but he could still by all means go. Hogan would be up against Austin if I was to book this WrestleMania so Sting would naturally face the second top guy in the company and that would be The Rock.

Triple H - During Triple H's peak during the Attitude Era. Sting wanting to teach Triple H aan ounce of respect and Triple H just wanting Sting gone from the company. Think these two could have had a pretty good/great feud and some great matches if they had, had the chance to work with each other.

Kane - I'd have loved to have seen this and I assume I'll probably be the only one. Kane vs. Sting would have been great in '97 or '98. The match itself maybe not, but I can probably safely say that the blend of characters would have made for a very good and fitting storyline. Just the mystique of them both from that era is enough to get me invested in a feud between the two.

I have a tonne more but don't wanna drag it on too much, so who do you guys wish Sting could have feuded with in the WWF? Post away!

It would have been awesome to see Sting feud with Shawn Michaels and the rest of DX much in the same way that he feuded with Hogan and the NWO. It's a perfect fit.

The 'Crow'gimmick Sting worked well against very powerfull heels and factions (like the nWo). So I would say, let Sting continue to feud with the nWo. Or maybe later a feud with Evolution. Sting is(/was) a kind of guy that can have a good match with nearly any type of wrestler, so inring-wise you can say any big name of the last 20 years.

Meh, wouldn't have cared for Sting Vs anyone in WWE tbh. Biggest star (in America... you start going to Japan and shit and things get confusing lol) to never work in WWE? Absolutely. As a wrestler he was mediocre as hell. He stopped having good matches around 96. Maybe he would have had more incentive to have better matches had he jumped ship around that point, getting to work with the likes of HBK, Bret, Undertaker, Austin and Vader (again :mark:), but who knows. Just based on his work after 96 I can safely say I have no interest in him, but there is still the whole "what if" about him being more motivated in the WWF or not.

Closest we got to that match was Sting VS Glen Jacobs:

May be a bit different but their clash in styles would have been great, Sting vs. Angle is something I find very intriguing. Angle circa 2001-2003 in his prime.

Im a massive Sting mark i admit, but there is no chance or indeed point in him coming in WWE now, his latest 'comeback' on TNA is disappointing, thought he'd come back with a bang, reintroduce The Crow (no point wishing for surfer Sting lol), but he has reverted back to the joker type it seems.

He should have worked something out with Vince somewhere dwon the line, a short term deal, anythinh, he only signs 1 year deals with TNA anyway, i think maybe not in 2001 because he has said himself he didn't trust what WWE would do with him, plus he had the contract that had do be bought out by Vince which wasn't going to happen, but i think he should have given Vince another chance in 05/06 before he joined TNA, but Sting being Sting and being loyal stuck to them.

one of the biggest disappointment in wrestling IMHO.

The only people I'd want to see Sting fight in WWE would've been Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker

Sting is awesome but he's been coasting off his name for over 10 years now. I think he did an awesome job of reinventing himself during one of his TNA runs (when he returned to take the title from Jarrett) but the "joker" sting is was somewhat ridiculous (it had its moments).

Even though I believe Sting coasts he still has flashes of his former greatness from time to time but he's not a full time body anymore. Sting is far more effective if you let him leave it all out there in short spurts (ala Undertaker).

I was never a big WCW fans but I like Sting. He's the man.

Technically, Sting has one WWF/E match, the final Monday Nitro. Vince owned it by then. Sting wrestled Flair on this show.

Edit -

I would have enjoyed a Sting vs HHH match or three.
