Re: who should have ended Goldberg's Streak?

I have a problem with where, by who and how it ended.

I still firmly believe they should have held off Hogan vs Goldberg until Starrcade 98, they could have done it in the Georgia Dome, and with months and months of build they could have sold it out, set the attendance record and everything seeing as WCW never had large stages.

As for the Streak it needed to end at the hands of someone who would have benefited like Booker T. Guys like Sting and DDP were already in their 40's by the time the Goldberg was WCW Champion.

Re: who should have ended Goldberg's Streak?

He was over and never had been world champion before. The correct answer is Diamond Dallas Page.

I thought Sting or Bret Hart should've been the one to end the streak, honestly, it'd probably be better for Bret just because of how mis-used he ended up being.

Re: who should have ended Goldberg's Streak?

Diamond Dallas Page was already HUGELY over in 1997 due to his feud with The Outsiders and then Randy Savage but because of how popular he was i don't think beating Goldberg would have helped him that much as the peak of his popularity was in the Page/Savage feud whereas Chris Benoit would have benefited in a major way. Through 1997 as a part of The Four Horsemen we saw Chris Benoit quiely moving his way towards the main event scene and had already shown he could have a great match with almost anyone but the best thing was because of his style and character he was believable against anyone.

If WCW had built Chris Benoit up through 1998 and put him in feuds with more established stars who were around the main event scene like Randy Savage, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall then he would have been built up enough for Goldberg/Benoit to work at Starrcade later that year. After feuding with some of The New World Order and because WCW loved a swerve they could have still had the same ending that Goldberg/Nash had and have Scott Hall come out to cost Goldberg the match and the World title and then had Chris Benoit join The New World Order but not do the The Fingerpoke Of Doom.

John Cena.

But the gimmick was doomed, it worked wonders for when it was hot but once Goldberg lost (and to whoever he did) it meant that he just wasn't going to be the same. that's the issue with streaks and Im not a fan of them at all.

he should have probably lost to Hogan on Nitro and Went on to Win the belt at the Starcade against Sting or Hogan

I'm not either, if your character can't sustain after a loss you are one-dimensional and pretty much useless. More thought should have been put into how Goldberg was going to be booked post-streak, which WCW showed everyone they didn't think about it at all.
