One of the more puzzling questions I have always wondered. These two feuded, but it was no longer under the character of Papa Shango, but instead Kama. I can't help, but to think that Papa Shango vs The Undertaker would have told such a much better story. Your thoughts?
I do remember seeing that match with my father and I thought their match was decent. They have great chemistry between their ring storytelling and characters as a whole. That is why I enjoyed Kama vs Undertaker because of just that.
I think it was because the character was scrapped so quickly. He's remembered fondly for nostalgia purposes but at the time the character was despised, and not in a good heel heat way. The majority of fans found the whole thing over the top and insulting. He was getting go away heat.
Otherwise it probably would have happened. The characters were perfect for each other and Taker was actually the one who pushed for Wright to get hired in the first place.

He was only actually Papa Shango for a little over a year and as you said the character was a complete bomb.
In fact if memory serves, I think this is in Foley's first autobiography, before he found his niche and became The Godfather, he was nicknamed "The Black Hole of Charisma" backstage. I would imagine the Papa Shango gimmick didn't help rid him of that nickname.
