Ultimate Warrior + Phil Collins Music Video

I will only be noting the WWF/WCW for this. I wanted to go back and watch the top angles/matches from the WWF mainly, as i have been in that nostalgic mood lately. Although i will be watching the USWA stuff too and saving the Japan stuff for later.

I'll provide thoughts and sum up on what i watch as i go along, to make it easier.

Thought i'd share this as it may get people to remember some of this stuff, and maybe stuff that people haven't seen. Don't expect anyone to read or give a shit about any of this, but i'll see how it goes :p

So, my journey through 1990 begins;

WWF - Rick Martel + Brutus Beefcake (Superstars 1/6/90)

Beefcake is cutting someone's hair after defeating them in a match i presume, then Rick comes out, stands on a platform by the curtain, and proceeds to rip into Beefcake, whilst wearing a big raincoat and a fedora hat, and telling him what fashion really is. Beefcake then runs up to him and scares him off with his cutting sheers.

Martel then keeps trying to retrieve his coat lol whilst being held back by some refs, but Brutus won't let him have it and end up cutting it up, for the delight of the crowd.

Jesse/Vince were great on commentary "Maybe if he did that to one of your suits, it'll be an improvement". Despite me never being a big fan of Beefcake, he was really over at this stage TBH.

Brother Love: All WWF managers (Superstars 1/6/90)

Sherri/Heenan/Slick/Fuji; All great minds and managers big up their respective clients' ambitions for the upcoming Royal Rumble. Just from this little segment, Sherri was great and i'm looking forward to more of her with the Macho King. Oh and what's this; the crowd booing the shit out of the heels!!!!!

I miss these characters.

Norman the Lunatic + Woman (WWW 1/6/90)

I didn't watch WCW at the time, so even now i'm like 'Who the fuck is Norman The Lunatic'? :lol

He has a 'painting' of Woman, who by the way is looking very nice here, and is out here to present it, and of course it's hideous and looks like a 5 year old has drew it. Woman is disgusted and slaps the shit out of poor Norman, who proceeds to beat the crap out of her bodyguard until Kevin Sullivan arrives and starts pounding on him, including beating the man with his own painting.

Can't blame Woman for being offended at the state of the painting TBH. :D

Four Horsemen Interview (WWW 1/6/90)

Sting is announced as the newest member of the Horsemen. Arn/Flair/Ole all out and speak up for him. As i said, i didn't watch WCW at the time, so a lot of this is new to me.

PWI Award Winners (WCWSN 1/6/90)

Ric Flair and Scott Steiner receive awards from Pro Wrestling Illustrated. Steiner has just got his wrestling pants on, whilst Flair and Gordon Solie are decked out in their suits. :lol

Ric esp does well here to put over the importance of the award to him (winning wrestler of the year for 1989) and puts on a serious tone.

Four Horsemen Interview (WCWSN 1/6/90)

The Horsemen are excited to have Sting and board and Flair/Ole/Arn put him over whilst also talking about the upcoming Clash show. Once again, Arn is a king of promos here. Sting looks very excited and says he doesn't know why Flair is giving him these compliments, :hmm: Wonder where this is all going...................

Randy Savage & Sensational Sherri Interview (Challenge 1/7/90)

Savage, as with pretty much everything, plays his King gimmick so well and is just fucking great with Sherri, and they make such a great team IMO. Randy tells Mene Gene how he's going to win the Rumble whilst Sherri has a message for Sapphire. I presume the Savage/Dusty feud is still going on?

Ric Flair vs. Bobby Eaton (Main Event 1/7/90)

I uploaded this match a while ago for anyone wanting to check it out;

x3z3tfc

This a fantastic match. Eaton was wonderful not only on his selling/bumping as he usual is, but on offense too. I loved his figure four headlock and the way he so subtlety used his offense to incorporate little random, sly attacks from Cornette. This match is totally PPV caliber and is very highly recommended.

Funk's Grill: Kevin Sullivan (Power Hour 1/12/90)

It'd Terry Funk's grill. He starts out by rapping and asks people to call the hotline. Kevin Sullivan is the guest here and they end up talking about Norman The Lunatic, whom Funk has taken a like to. Sullivan compares him to Dory Funk in not the best of light, which doesn't exactly please Terry, but they end up in a pretty calm debate about the whole thing.

Quite the enjoyable little debate TBH, without the need to shout or go ape. It's all quite calm and civil and it's a good segment.

"The only bit of compassion he(Funk) knew was when he was looking in the dictionary for a word" - Sullivan was actually complimenting him here, lol.

Arn Anderson vs. The Great Muta (Power Hour 1/12/90)

Good TV match here, nothing great, but enjoyable, if a bit long. Good offense by both guys, and we had some outside stuff with Buzz Sawyer and The Dragon Master coming to the ring to disctract Arn and interfere at the end, in a hot finishing stretch TBH. Arn is the new TV champion. Great Spinebuster and superb DDT to finish this. Oh and:

CATTLE MUTILATION.........BEFORE IT WAS.................CATTLE MUTIALITION!!!!!

As i said, an anjoyable match.

Ric Flair + Woman (WCWSN 1/13/90)

Flair is the guest of Jim Cornette here and talks about the Horsemen and Sting. Jim accuses Flair of taking the easy route and having Sting as the challenger for his title because he's his friend and thinks it'll be more tough if he was facing Lex Luger. Then Woman comes out, looking good again btw, and makes an offer to Flair, which he declines because he wants to
concentrate on business. Really??? This Ric Flair we know and love??? I'm sure Woman will be back for Flair at some point,

Another good segment here.

Cactus Jack Manson vs. Lee Scott (WCWSN 1/13/90)

The week prior, Cactus and Lee were teaming up and Jack ended up turning on him, so we get this match the week after. I think Scott was just a jobber TBH, not too sure. Still early in Jack's career here, apparantly he weighs 259 and Lee 212 here?? Really??

Fun little match, with Scott bumping, not much else. Cactus continues to beat the crap out of him after pinning him too.

Viewers Choice announcement (Prime Time 1/15/90)

Viewers Choice will now carry the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania. Think there was a dispute here on wether they would show the PPV's, but fans demanded it, so it got through in the end.

Rockers vs. Powers of Pain (MSG 1/15/90)

So, first of all, here is the match;

Second; Watch this fucking match/ Seriously.

Not only is it PPV worthy and probably should have been on a PPV somewhere, but it's probably POP's best match and on of the Rockers' best. They bump wonderfully here, thr POP are great on offense too, esp Warlord, and Jannetty in particular is a bumping machine.

Yes, he did come down.

An excellent tag match that i can't recommend highly enough. Like the Twin Towers/Rockers WM 5 match formula, but better.

Watch this shit NOWWWW!!!!

Will update as i slowly go along and see what the major story-lines are like all these years later and who stands out and who doesn't. Have a feeling the Warrior will come up a lot TBH. :hmm:

Re: My Adventures Through 1990

Funk's Grill: Cactus Jack (NWA Power Hour 01/19/90)

Yeah, Jack doesn't have that promo greatness down yet of course, looks nervous here and Funk has to pretty much guide him through the segment. He sounds young here too and starts off looking into the wrong camera, lol. I guess he was with one of his heroes here and is so enthusiastically trying to get through it best he can.

"I'd rather hurt a man, than love a woman"

Arn Anderson vs Buzz Sawyer (NWA Power Hour 01/19/90)

Sawyer gets a TV title shot, after he interfered in Arn/Muta last week.

Sawyer still has some left in the tank here, although i'm not sure you can call him exactly being in his prime. He does spring up his offense here though and both work hard, with Arn starting out working on Buzz's arm, when Buzz does a great spot as he bites Arn, just as he's in a armhold. Sawyer then takes over for the majority of the match and works on Arn's back, until Anderson starts to make his comeback, gets a nearfall, then Dragon Master and Muta come out and beat Arn down and Muta blinds Arn with the green mist.

Ole then comes running to help, but gets beat up by Buzz/Master/Muta. Although he doesn't sell much until Sawyer gives him a big splash from the top rope. Hot finish and angle to end the match TBH. It was a fun, if not spectacular match, that i enjoyed more than i thought i would.

Sawyer does look much older than he probably is here, tho.

Brother Love: Hulk Hogan (WWF Superstars 01/20/90)

Hogan in full 'Hulkamania' mode here of course. Crowd is fucking deafening too TBH. Talks about the upcoming Royal Rumble and how he's going to beat everybody, even if he comes out at No.1 entrant with the help of the Hulkamaniacs and all that.

Interesting to note that he specifically mentions the Ultimate Warrior here in regards to the Rumble, thus forshadowing what is to come and also, something that i find a tad odd, Brother Love mentions that he thinks Mr.Perfect will be one of the last men standing, and of course, that ended up the case. Brother just casually drops his name here as a bit of an afterthought TBH.

Hogan was surely on coke here though lol.

Jake Roberts and Ted DiBiase (WWF Superstars 01/20/90)

Ending of what i assume was a Jake squash on a jobber. DiBiase/Virgil come out and Ted wants his million dollar belt back, which is in the bag with.........Damian. :D He tells Virgil to go and get it, slaps him, and shoves money in his face. Virgil gets in the ring, goes towards the bag and Jake opens it up and surprise surprise...........it's Damian.

Virgil flies out the ring and down the ramp faster than Usain Bolt. :lol

Fun segment.

Royal Rumble Report w/Gene Okerlund (WWF Superstars 01/20/90)

Mene Gene does a rundown of the participants in the Royal Rumble match. Good segment in hyping the Rumble, with little promos from some of the wrestlers involved, including Piper/Savage and others.

Yeah, this was good and i kinda miss stuff like this.

Ultimate Warrior Interview (Challenge 1/21/90)

Warrior out here with his usual craziness, firing shots at Hogan as he went. I did think the first hint of a Warrior/Hogan match was at the Rumble TBH, but along with Hogan mentioning him on Superstars, and now Warrior talking about him on Challenge, the seeds were there already.

I'm sure after these two promos, people were expecting a Hogan/Warrior confrontation at the Rumble.

A custom wrestling comp maker predominantly puts them together, with votes and contributions coming from various people over at the DVDVR message boards. There are quite a few sets like these and best of the 80's for different organisations.

Re: My Adventures Through 1990

Brutus Beefcake vs. The Genius (Finish only) (Rumble 1/21/90)

Last few minutes here. Beefcake puts Genius in the patented sleeper hold, but genius pushes out of it and into the ref. Poor old Earl ends up getting one hell of a ref bump;

:jones

Then, Beefcake re-applies the hold, knocking Genius out. then he goes and gets the scissors, and proceeds to cut his hair. As he's doing this act, Perfect does a run in and attacks Beefcake, then proceeds to beat him up with a chair and the match ends up in a double DQ, lol.

What was also funny is, as Beefcake is cutting Genius's hair, he is actually facing the ramp where Perfect is running from, so he see's him in clear view running towards him :lol

The replay of said moment highlights this moment in hilarious fashion:

:heyman6

Ron Garvin vs. Greg Valentine (Submission Match) (Rumble 1/21/90)

I first have to admit; I was never a big fan of 'Rugged Ronnie Garvin' as a kid. Years later, people tell me he was a solid wrestler that i should watch more of, so here we go with one match. These two i know had a few matches in 89 leading up to this one.

So this is a submission match, yeah. So what is the first thing Garvin does after giving Valentine one hell of a stiff looking punch? Armbar? Figure-Four?

Nope. He tries to pin him. I guess it was their way of reminding the audience it was an I Quit Match.

We get a few more pin attempts throughout the match too, which Jesse tries to cover up by claiming that "Because wrestlers are so used to pinning people, it just comes natural to them to do that" Think they should have stopped at the first pin attempt, rather than going for more in the match.

But despite that, i really enjoyed this TBH. It's two tough bastards who hate each other, beating the shit out of each other, with some super stiff shots, super stiff. Valentine always looks stoned lol and does play that dazed bloke well when he gets hit and does his own belly flop to the mat.

Really good match overall, that surprisingly got plenty of time too. Quite a novel WWF match, that seemed something right out of NWA or something. A war.

Oh, and this spot. Valentine had a brace on his leg, so the 'pain' of the hold wasn't in full effect to Rugged Ronnie.

I would like to check out at least one of their '89 matches at some point too.

Bobby Heenan Family Interview (Rumble 1/21/90)

Sean Mooney senses dissension in the family here and plays on that throughout. Andre puts across his thought process on dealing with the family and carries on even as the segment is ending lol.

Royal Rumble Match (JIP) (Rumble 1/21/90)

Starts just before entrant No.25; Hulk Hogan. Hulk and Snuka have a bit of an exchange, did these two ever have a match? A young HBK comes in but only lasts 30 seconds or so before he's eliminated by The Ultimate Warrior, who also eliminates Santana, whilst Hogan gets rid of The Honky Tonk Man (thank fuck). We of course get the big Hogan/Warrior showdown here for the first time that the crowd want and go mad for;

Which ends up with them both running opposite ropes and clotheslining each other to the mat. Barbarian is next to enter, followed by Rick Rude, who jumps the timer and comes in out of nowhere and goes straight for Warrior. Barb/Rude then end up nearly eliminating Warrior, before Hogan comes over and inadvertently eliminates him.

Warrior, not best pleased at this sudden departure, ends up climbing back into the ring, clotheslining two dudes who had nothing to do with him getting eliminated, then doing a Usain Bolt into the back, which was fucking hilarious TBH. Jesse's like "He's an idiot" :lol

Hercules gets rid of Barbarian and then Rude gets rid of Hercules straight after. So we're down to Hogan/Perfect/Rude as the final three. Rude/Perfect double team Hogan for a short bit, until Hogan tries to get rid of Perfect, but he ends up staying in by grabbing the ropes, Rude is then sent flying towards the same ropes, and Perfect holds the rope down, and eliminates Rude.

So now it's Hogan/Perfect. Perfect goes after Hogan and hits the 'Perfect Plex', which obviously has no effect on the IMMORTAL HULK HOGAN, who 'hulks up' and throws Perfect over the top rope to win.

HOGAN IS THE WINNER. HULKAMANIA IS RUNING WILD (BROTHER).

I guess the Hogan/Warrior Wrestlemania build really starts now.

I also went back and watched the entire Rumble match and it defenitly holds up really well as a whole IMO. DiBiase lasts about 45 minutes and works hard here and it's a super fun match with Piper/Jake/Savage all having excellent segments and a hot finish.

Great memories will the managers/enterage at ringside too; Sherri/Jimmy/Heenan/Virgil/Sapphire.

Contributions are welcome, too :p

Re: My Adventures Through 1990

I wasn't even born when this shit went down, but man, the build between Hogan & Warrior and their Wrestlemania match was absolutely incredible. I don't honestly think they could recreate that same atmosphere between any two guys currently on the main roster. No one else has that larger than life feel to them anymore to create such disbelief as to what would happen next. Totally love that stare-down at the Rumble. Have to watch that again sometime this month. (Y)

Roddy Piper vs. Randy Savage (Wrestlefest 1/22/90)

xwi9vn

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xwi9vn_macho-king-vs-rowdy-roddy-piper_sport

Fun match. Both are in the ring, Savage takes his time getting his gear off (btw, his glasses here
are fabulous).

Sherri then teases lifting up Piper's kilt, whilst she's doing that, Savage starts out by using this to attack Piper. Piper takes over for a bit before Savage tries to bail, but Piper drags him back. Savage is then on offense and the match picks up.

Piper does an aeroplane spin on Savage before this, but the one Savage gives Piper afterwards is better TBH:

Match ends in a DQ as Sherri attacks Piper on the outside in view of the ref. Oh and Sherri, yes she was indeed sensational in this match as the proper heel manager. Getting involved, constantly screaming, she was just superb.

She did a rather impressive kick to Piper too:

Oh and the camera director obviously got a gratious kick out of her losing her dress:

:cenaooh

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson & Sting vs. Buzz Sawyer, Dragon Master & Great Muta (Power Hour 1/26/90

x57gj1p

First if all: THE CROWD WERE FUCKING NUTS FOR THIS

Second of all: THIS MATCH FUCKING RULED

Thirdly: THE CROWD WERE FUCKING NUTS FOR THIS

It was wrestled at an insane pace for the entire match and the heat is through the roof, with everyone getting a chance to shine and Flair having a FIP segment. Sting was great in his short bursts of coming in and cleaning house, Sawyer had some good stuff too, including a great little chop battle:

Sawyer also does a wonderful spot where he screams like a banshee in the middle of the ring, then runs, shoulder first, into the corner where Arn is, but misses and runs into the turnbuckle. Just brilliant.

Ended in a DQ when Muta sprayed the green mist in Sting's face, and then all three took out the Horsemen, with Sawyer hitting his big splash onto Sting and then bailing.

Yeah, this did fucking rule and the crowd were batshit all the way through. Excellent heat on the heels and it continues this feud nicely. Horsemen are so over here, it's frightening. COTC is't far off now and they continue to mention the planned Sting/Flair match at Wrestle War.

Ted Dibiase Interview (Superstars 1/27/90)

Ted is in the weights room, but still in his full clobber. Has a message for Jake Roberts concerning his Million Dollar Belt. "If there are any guts in that spineless back of his he'll accept this challenge and meet him next week on national television." So yeah, Ted calls Jake out.

Funk's Grill: Teddy Long & Mean Mark Callous (WWW 1/27/90)

Mean Mark Callous debut in the NWA, i believe here. Teddy introduces him and says they are going to take out and teach the Road Warriors hoe to wrestle. Funk and Long then do a little dance, whilst Mark watches on and pulls some WTF expressions lol.

Four Horsemen Interview (WCWSN 1/27/90)

Good segment here. J.R asks Sting what it's like being a member of the Horsemen, which he says he's enjoying being in the fast lane. He then asks what his thoughts are about having to face Flair at Wrestle War. Before he can answer, Flair and Arn come out with some ladies and says it's all about pleasure.

Woman then interrupts and makes another offer to Ric, as she did a couple of weeks prior, but once again, Flair declines and says the ladies with him are pleasure, and she (Woman) is business.

Woman says "When your'e finished with girls and you want a woman, call me"

Rock N Roll Express & Dynamic Dudes vs. Midnight Express & Fabulous Freebirds (WCWSN 1/27/90)

Decent match with a seemingly botched/mis-timed ending with Shane Douglas messing it up.

Chaotic match with some good stuff from the Rocks/Midnights as usual, and the match had it's best moments whenever these combinations came together. Eaton/Douglas have a good segment before it all breaks loose and Douglas cleans house. Big bump from Cornette too in this.

Camera completely misses the finish of the match though and i think Douglas botched it too. Douglas put himself in the wrong position to take the Top-rope Dropkick from Eaton, then has to move around to get a proper pinning position. Then they take a age to get the actual pinfall with the ref counting, but Douglas's shoulder are not actually on the mat. The camera then pans to the outside where everyone else is brawling, and the pin takes place still, off camera. With no bell either.

Like i said, decent, fun match with a weird ending.

Show opening (SNME 1/27/90)

The opening to an episode of Saturday Night's Main Event always gets you excited and looking forward to watching it TBH. I uploaded this recently:

I REALLY do recommend that six man, esp. It's just pretty much balls to the wall, never let's up and the crowd are.....rabid to say the least.

If that and Piper/Savage aren't online, ill upload.

Hulk Hogan & Ultimate Warrior vs. Mr. Perfect & The Genius (SNME 1/27/90)

Fun match. Hennig was on top bumping machine form here, making Hogan and Warrior's offense look big. Did it cross over to 'overselling'? Depends on how you look at it, TBH. It worked here.

Did this spot twice.

It was mainly, Perfect and Hogan in the bulk of the match, with Hogan clubbing Perfect about, then Curt taking over and taking it to the outside uses Genius' poetry sheet to hit Hogan over the head with.

"Poetry in motion" said Jesse. Eh, eh.

Back in the ring, with Perfect kicking Hogan about, then hitting the Perfect-Plex on Hogan, and i thought "Hulk gonna kick out"??!! Na, Perfect released the hold and tagged in Genius, who hit a Moonsault, but Hogan got his knees up to block it.

Finish came when Warrior hit his finisher, but got hit by Perfect going for the big splash. Luckily Hogan had tagged in beforehand and hit his big leg drop on Genius to win. Perfect/Genius then attacked them both after the match, with Warrior then cleaning house, but wait;

:hutz

Hogan then got up and confronted Warrior in a "WFT" "Yeah, you wanna, go"

Before the show went off the air. Fun and it helps the build to WM.

Dusty Rhodes Interview (SNME 1/27/90)

Goofy, but Dusty gave it his all to try and make it work, responding to Rick Rude, who says he could have Sapphire any time he wanted. Rhodes then says the 90's will be the decade of the common man.

Innuendos all over the place here too;

Mene Gene: "What about Bobby Heenan?"
Dusty: "What about Sapphire"
Mene Gene: "Youv'e got a point"
Dusty: "And a place to stick it, jack"

:cenaooh

Jake Roberts Interview (Challenge 1/28/90)

"Ted, if you want your Million Dollar Belt, bring your Million Dollar butt and come and get it"

Jake saying the best way to get to DiBiase is to hit him where it hurts, which is why he took his prized belt. Good little promo as usual from Roberts.

Ric Flair vs. Tom Zenk (Power Hour 2/2/90)

I'm sure Zenk has the Batman '89 theme here, from what i could hear.

:shockedpunk

Woman is at ringside, watching Flair once again.

Cornette: "Don't lean so close to the monitors, Jim, you drool, your'e likely to electrocute yourself"

:lmao

Really good face/face match. Zenk looks good here and Flair gives him a lot, and both work very hard, with Ric slowly incorporating some heel tactics as the match wore on, including rolling out the ring to stall, and get the attention of Woman, and finally by winning by holding the tights. Flair did his best to make the Z Man look good and it worked and these two worked well together. Zenk's chest was also bleeding from the chops Flair was giving him, lol.

Flair carried the thing, but Zenk didn't mess anything up and did what he had to do. Good stuff.

Heel turn for Ric on the horizon :hmm: Signs were here.

Jake Roberts vs. Ted DiBiase (Superstars 2/3/90)

Short match here, that was just a setup for an angle. Match starts out with DiBiase attacking Jake and getting in some offense. Jake then takes over an there are a couple of teases of the DDT, which Ted manages to wriggle out from. Jake then gets tied up in the ropes, causing Ted to tell Virgil to reach into Jake's big bag of Damian and retrieve his Million Dollar belt, to which Virgil is reluctant to say the least.

Jake manages to get free and lay into Ted, who goes to the outside and whispers something into Slick's ear (i did wonder why he was out there). Slick then goes to the back and comes back with The Big Boss Man, who wallops Jake with the nightstick, causing a DQ of course, and handcuffs him to the ropes.

He then grabs the snake bag, and he/Slick/Ted/Virgil heard over to Brother Love, who has got his stage all ready to go. DiBiase then informs us that he money can buy you anything, like the services of Slick/Bossman. But Bossman is upset by this, as he hasn't received any of this money, so he questions this to Slick, who tries to squirm his way out of it.

DiBiase then wants what he has paid for; his Million Dollar belt, but Bossman is like 'Nope, not happening". He gets in Ted's face, calls him a "FAT FACED PUNK", then tells him what to do, and Ted is going to have to earn in the hard way and he can't be bought. Ted goads him in saying he's scared, to which Bossman says he's not scared of anything and reaches into the bag and takes out the Million Dollar belt.

He then takes the bag and belt back to the ring, and hands over the handcuffs key to Roberts.

Bossman's a face now and the crowd love it. This was a fantastic face turn for Bossman TBH, should be mentioned more as it was executed so well, with Bossman providing a great promo with it.

Great stuff.

Found it on YT:

Hulk Hogan + Ultimate Warrior Promos (Superstars 2/3/90)

Cocaine.

Hogan challenges Warrior to the 'Ultimate Challenge' and that surely Warrior can't overcome the power of Hulkamania.

Cocaine.

Speaking of cocaine, here's the Warrior;

Gods, warriors, and force-fields. Think he also challenged Hogan in this. Basically saying he will overcome the power of Hulkamania.

These promos are effective in putting over the craziness of both of them and just what them colliding means.

All in all; The Ultimate Challenge is upon us.

Watched the two matches. Both really fun, especially the tag. Piper/Savage had awesome pre-match with Sherri and Piper then Savage getting the jump from behind. Piper's a great wobbly drunk seller and even better at fiery asskicking. Tag was a REALLY nice surprise. Interesting in that I didn't really have a FIP and most of the match was spent either with shine or just slightly brawling mess. The small Flair and Sawyer exchange stuck out as kind of awkward but also awesome in a sloppy bar brawl kind of way. Actually chuckled when Sting had Dragon Master by the arm and DM kept trying to make a tag, so Sawyer and Muta were almost falling over the ropes trying to reach out. Man Sting was good. I've thought he was good for years now but he gets flack for not being a good wrestler and fuck that, for most of at least 1988-1996 he was damn good. He just brings so much energy to his matches. I don't even remember ever knowing Sawyer was in WCW around this time but based on this I should keep it in mind. Thanks for the upload. (Y)

Zenk looks good here

This is impossible. IT HAS TO BE.

Ric Flair + Woman (WCWSN 2/3/90)

Woman is out there with Cornette. Once again she tells him she wants Ric Flair for Ric to look here in the eye and say "No". Flair comes out and once again reiterates that the he and the Horsemen do not mix business with pleasure. Woman says she wants him to look her in the eye and say no and and that she'll be at the Clash on Tuesday at ringside to see Ric 'Stylin' and Profilin'.

Woman looking hot again, here. I'm sure a payoff is close for this as she's been calling Flair out for a few weeks, now.

Clash of the Champions X Commercial (WCWSN 2/3/90)

A 'The Good. The Bad. And The Ugly' style commercial. Sting being the 'Good', Sullivan being the 'Bad' and Tama being the 'Ugly'(someone had to be lol). Hokey, but funny promos from some of the wrestlers involved at the Clash.

Like the Samoan Savage telling Steve Williams:

"And your sister drinks cocunut milk in many men's huts!. This was said through on screen subtitles btw.

My favorite bit was Norman, who didn't say a word:

BEST PROMO IN THE WORLD. Altho it looks more like a weird dating promo. :D

Wrestlewar Commercial (WCWSN 2/3/90)

A short rap to try and to hype people for the PPV. LEL tidbit:

"It's Pay Per View excitment from T.H.E, for more information, call your cable company"

Eh, eh.

Four Horsemen Interview (WCWSN 2/3/90)

Final hype for the upcoming cage match at the Clash. Simple promo, but it did the job of getting you ready for their match in particular.

Steve Williams' Entrance (Clash 2/6/90)

x57lon8

:lmao

Dr.Death being portrayed as an actual doctor, giving the worst CPR of all time. Weird, funny, out of place, but just WFT-worthy. Williams waving out the window as the ambulance was driving away was funny, though. Might actually watch the match later.

Sting + The Four Horsemen (Clash 2/6/90)

"You signed your death warrant"

In the few snippets of Horsemen stuff i have seen thus far, they were very over as babyfaces, so a sudden heel turn this quick seemed a tad out of the blue, even though Flair has shows signs of it in recent weeks. Sting is kicked out for agreeing to a match with Flair at WrestleWar. Ole is on the mic here and does a good job of putting the angle over. Ric then chimes in and they then beat the shit out of Sting. It was all about protecting Flair's title, i guess.

Sting was only a Horsemen a month or so, so maybe it made more sense to do this at a later time, but nonetheless, this was an excellent promo.

Wrestle War '90 Wild Thing Rap II (Clash 2/6/90)

Cactus Jack vs. Mil Mascaras (Finish Only) (Clash 2/6/90)

"CACTUS JACK IS DEAD" Proclaims Cornette after this sick head bump, Jack takes:

Big thud sound too from this, as you'd expect.

Mil looked alright here TBH, the match is short and is pretty much Mil on offense for most of it. Cactus does hit a back-breaker on Mil, throws him outside for an elbow drop, but Mil moves and quickly gets back in the ring to push Cactus off the ring apron for that big bump. Jack did get up a tad quick tho after that bump tho.

Kevin Sullivan vs Norman The Lunatic (Clash 02/06/90, Falls Count Anywhere) (Finish Only) (Clash 2/6/90)

I guess this is the revenge for Sullivan wrecking Norman's painting a few weeks ago. They end up taking the brawl all the way up the ramp, which is the length of a small country btw, through the curtain and into the back area. Where Sullivan, i assume to get away from Norman, enters the Women's bathroom. Norman sees that it's the women's bathroom and can't enter. A woman ends up running out screaming, then Norman enters but the camera doesn't follow.

We hear some commotion going on in there, but about a minute later, Sullivan comes out like a drunk:

Then Norman comes out carrying a toilet seat and a toilet roll:

The ref then raises his hand as the winner. I guess Kev didn't want to job on camera.

Rick & Scott Steiner vs. Doom (Finish Only) (Clash 2/6/90)

Decided to check out the full match for this. Decent big man match with two teams who like to kick ass. Ross already states that it's pretty much the biggest, worst kept secret on who Doom actually are. Finish comes when Rick pulls the mask off Doom #1 , to reveal it's ...........Butch Reed, and rolls him up for the pin and to retain the tag titles and then immediately leave the ring.

Doom #2 is very reluctant to take the mask off, but must do so or they will be SUSPENDED FROM WRESTLING. He does and to the surprise of..............no one, it's Ron Simmons.

Ross then pretty much casually announces that it's Ron Simmons, then quickly moves on lol.

Four Horsemen Interview (Clash 2/6/90)

Flair and the Horsemen give Sting one last chance to sign his release of the title match, or they will effectively end him, wherever he his, in the street, anywhere. Still can't take to them turning heel so quick TBH.

Ric Flair, Arn & Ole Anderson vs. Buzz Sawyer, Dragon Master & Great Muta (Cage Match) (Clash 2/6/90)

So, here it is, the big blow off and the where all the hype for this event has gone into. Will Sting appear, what will happen? Of course Sting was supposed to be in the match, but Ole replaced him after kicking him out the group, so the match has a different dynamic going in. Dragon/Buzz/Muta are the defacto babyfaces now, then?

The crowd at least start giving the Horsemen stick and are on their backs, they just want Sting.

Big "We want Sting' chants immediately start up. Match starts out as a standard tag, with everyone getting a turn on offense, and the here is he: STING!!!!

Sting runs down and starts to climb the cage, but Flair just punches him off and Pillman and some security come down and try and pull Sting down and start to drag him back down the isle. The action continues in the ring, but the Sting breaks free and again sprints down and tries to climb the cage, but only gets a foot before he is once again held back.

Just after this, Sawyer dows his BIG SPLASH off the cage, but misses.

Fuuuuuuuuck. You then see Sting, still being held back by Pillman and co., limping as he appears to be injured from climbing the cage.

Quick brawl in the ring and Arn hits a DDT on Dragon Master for the win.

Flair then quickly goes through the now open cage door, and runs straight for Sting, attacking him, seemingly unaware that he is in fact, possibly severely injured at this point. Pillman and the Horsemen drag Flair back as the show goes off air.

So yeah, the hotshotted Horsemen heel turn, the big Sting moment, and now he's gone and got injured.

I guess it's now panic mode for WCW.

The Dr. Death thing. :lmao

That bump at Clash is where Foley lost his front four teeth IIRC. Hard to watch, that one.

DOOM! Really fun team, they got a good few matches worth a watch from 1990 should my memory be working. The match at Starrcade especially is one of the best US matches of the year.

#23 · (Edited)
I can't actually find evidence to back up what I said about him losing teeth there. Huh, I always thought that was it. Still might be I guess.

Doom have a good run with the Steiners, hope it's represented decently on the set. edit - the Doom/RNR matches are well worth it too. Man NWA/WCW actually put on way more good stuff than I remember in 1990.

Hey Brock, I can contribute!

The 1990 Royal Rumble Match

Man this was so entertaining and fun. I don't really remember seeing a Rumble where the crowd went completely ballistic so many times. Jake's music hits and he comes out 3rd to meet Dibiase, they go CRAZY. Piper enters, they go CRAZY. Warrior enters, they go CRAZY. Hogan enters, they go CRAZY. Warrior eliminates Dibiase, they go EVEN CRAZIER. And then... the moment. "IT'S HOGAN AND THE WARRIOR, EVERYONE'S ON THEIR FEET, NO ONE IS SITTING DOWN!" :mark: Love it love it love it. Ultimately this is where the match pretty much peaked though. After Warrior was eliminated, it was clear as day that no one stood a chance against Hogan. The ending is pretty silly, but the people loved it at the time so it's all good. Totally easy to watch Rumble though. Dibiase was a workhorse and they either set up or revisited a ton of feuds. *** 3/4

Question though, what the hell was actually at stake here, if anything? Hogan was the WWF Champion but was his title even on the line? Or was this when they just pretty much had the Rumble and the winner didn't really win anything? :p

#26 ·
Watching it, I'm sure only Jake got some entrance music lol, not sure why. I don't think they introduced full music for everyone until about 1996.

DiBiase was a legend in that Rumble tbh. He was getting his ass kicked for like 80% of it lol, but fuck did he work hard. Bret has a blink and you miss it elimination, as the camera was too busy on Andre's.

Definitely a fun RR that the wrestlers characters help bring alive, as well as the managers at ringside. Shame how Perfect just got tossed out, just after hitting the Perfect-Plex I think, I think him and Hogan were having a house program at that time and with nothing on the line, they could have given the win to Perfect.

Should check out that Valentine/Garvin match too, see what you think.

#25 ·
Yeah it's interesting thinking of the Rumble not as the gateway to the Mania title match, but just as a spectacle and that being whole point of it. Would still work today given how everybody looks forward to it, but it'd be impossible to not think of it as a little less important without it also being the #1 contender match.

OOoooooh I just realized 1990 is Steiners/Nasty Boys at Halloween Havoc. Anytime is a good time to revisit that one.

Funk's Grill: Jim Cornette (Power Hour 2/9/90)

Terry is no longer going to be the host of Funk's Grill.

:(

So he needs a replacement. "I don't want somebody that's very good, i don't want a Johnny Carson or a David Letterman". "I need someone that's fat, overbearing, obnoxious, repugnant, a loudmouth, i need someone that kinda, ooooozes in, like a very rancid piece of meat".

Why who's this? It's good 'ol Jimmy Cornette. The new host has been chosen.

Sting Attacked! (Power Hour 2/9/90)

A very serious and sol-um looking Jim Ross has a special report for us. The Horsemen have attacked and took out the Stinger. They knew he got a knee injury at the Clash, so decided to capitalize on it and take him out once and for all.

To do it this way worked IMO. The Horsemen said at the Clash they would find Sting in the streets if they had to, to take him out, so for WCW to write him out this way, made sense TBH. J.R put the gravity of the situation over well too in this report.

Wrestlemania Update (Superstars 2/10/90)

Special report regarding the 'Ultimate Challenge'. We start off with promos from both Hogan and Warrior. Hulk insinuates GOD is a Hulkamaniac, and that Warrior may be connected with the Devil with this wonderful quote;

"IF I FIND OUT THAT THE POWER YOU POSSESS COMES FROM DRINKING THE SWEAT FROM THE DEVIL'S ARMPIT"

Warrior is next to fill us with delights. Says that Hogan will only be faced, face to face and he's ready for the Ultimate Challenge.

Think Warrior's was more 'normal' than Hulk's on this, and that's saying something. We then cut to Jack Tunney (remember the great on screen President), who has pictures of both Hogan and Warrior on his wall:

How nice. He then goes onto say that the ME of WM6 will indeed be Hogan vs Warrior: The greatest main event in WWF history. The question left is what title will be on the line, and that will be announced at a later date. I'm sure we all knew it wasn't going to be just for the IC, TBH.

Brother Love: Rick Martel (Superstars 2/10/90)

It's the debut of ARROGANCE, the fragrance of the 90's. The Ventura and McMahon exchange on commentary was a highlight here, though;

Brother Love: I'm talking about a dynamic personality
Jesse: I didn't know I was on.
Vince: Your'e not
Brother Love: I'm not just talking about a great wrestler
Vince: Well it's definitely not you now.

:heyman6

Midnight Express vs. Rock & Roll Express (WWW 2/10/90)

U.S. tag title tournament match here. Well, what do you expect from these but another top match. Cornette gets involved a couple of times too, hitting Gibson with the racket and the camera actually misses the finish of the match, as Gibson rolls up Lane, but with Morton tying up the referee, he gets whacked with the racket, but the camera focuses on Jim on the outside, who took a bump.

Really good match here though, faced paced as usual, Eaton with some nice bumps here too, with a particular one on the turnbuckle. Really looking forward to their WrestleWar match now.

Four Horsemen Interview (WCWSN 2/10/90)

Good promo here and Ole in particular is strong here. They tell Sting that they let him in to see if he could indeed be a Horsemen, but he couldn't and that he should never have gone after Flair's title. Flair then tells him to do something about it, show up in Greensboro. They say they’re through being anything less than they are and that is the very best this sport has to offer.

Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels (Challenge 2/11/90)

First singles match between these two, i believe. First of all, someone is very excited about this:

Decent little match, that pretty much ends just as it gets going TBH. One thing i always loved about Bret's offense was his European uppercuts and he does a couple here that results into a nice reversal by Shawn

There is some good interplay between them here, and the match is fasted pace, but as i said, it ends in a double DQ, just as the match is starting to build up. Marty gets on the apron and slaps Bret, right in front of the ref, but the match continues. Anvil then gets on the apron and gets a slap from Shawn, and they all brawl. This results in the ref ringing the bell and DQ'ing both. Yeah, soz for that one Bret (Earl foreshadowing the Screwjob, here :hmm: :side: )

Ultimate Warrior Interview/Hulk Hogan Interview (Superstars 2/17/90)

Hulk Hogan and his Hulkamainiacs want to know if they can handle the Ultimate Warrior and thanks Jack Tunney for making the match.

"In my heart i can't believe the darkness in the Gods this brother talks about can beat us"

This was actually more of a focused promo by Hogan TBH, at least he made mention of the match and what it meant, in between all the stuff about Gods, Hulkamaniacs and the Warrior's body and veins.

Meanwhile in Warrior's world;

"HO KOGAN YOU HAVE WALKED INTO A FRUSTRATION LIKE THE NORMALS THAT HAVE TRAVELED BEFORE US"
"I AM THE FRUSTRATION THAT YOUR MANKIND HAS SWEPT UNDER THE CARPET FOR YEARS"

HO KOGAN, HO KOGAN, HO KOGAN. He did mention WM6 in his last sentence and something about reality.

Brother Love: Ted DiBiase, Slick & Akeem (Superstars 2/17/90)

Good promo here that is essentially about two concurrent feuds; Bossman/Slick and DiBiase/Roberts. Of course, Bossman turned face in great fashion a couple weeks ago and helped Jake get the Million Dolar belt back, so Ted has paid Akeem/Slick to 'get rid' of Bossman. Very enjoyable stuff here that builds the feuds so well. Akeem is also good on the mic, here too.

Midnight Express vs. Brian Pillman & Tom Zenk (WWW 2/17/90)

Funk keeps calling him 'Zeeman' :lol, You know something, this was basically an extended squash TBH. Pillman/Z-Man had at least 90% of the offense here, and there was no real heat segment from the Midnights either, they barely got anything in. Crowd popped big when Z-Man put Cornette in the sleeper after the racket was once again used beforehand, but Z-Man kicked out of the resulting pin.

The faces even ended up winning here too, to advance to the tag finals. Surprised at how little the Express got here. Thought they would advance here but alas. Zenk/Pillman certainly come out of this looking as strong as they could be though.

Ric Flair + Woman + Brian Pillman (WCWSN 2/17/90)

Pillman calls Flair out and asks him to explain just WTF happened at the Clash (regarding their turn and attack on Sting). Flair comes out and says to Brian "If you want to shut me up, let's go, tonight". Woman is out here with Ric for the first time, so i guess he soccomed to her charms in the end. Woman gets on the mic and tells Pillman "There is a difference between a man (Ric) and a boy (Brian).

To which Pillman replies "Yeah, well there is a difference between a lady, and a tramp". Great stuff.

Ric then says "Pillman, you let your mouth overload your ass. Meet me in that ring". It's on for later.

Sting Interview (WCWSN 2/17/90)

First of all, Sting looking cool here with his glasses:

Although i guess wearing them in the rehab room is a tad odd. Really good promo here by Sting. He doesn't do all the shouty stuff here, he is very calm and serious. He knew the injury was bad, and that the doctors are saying he could be out between 6 months to a year.

Ross then tells Sting that Luger has taken his place at Wrestle War. He says that he hasn't got many positives to say about him, but he plans to watch that match and hopes Luger beats Flair. Excellent promo from Sting to really put over the whole situation TBH.

Lex Luger + Ole Anderson (WCWSN 2/17/90)

Luger is the guest on Cornette's 'Louisville Slugger' show, but barley gets to answer any questions before the Horsemen some to the ring. We get another strong promo here by Ole. Tells Luger the same they told Sting; You have got until the end of the night to pull out of the title match with Flair, or you know what will happen. Luger tells Cornette that nobody gives him deadlines, he sets them, but that they will have an answer by the end of the night.

Obviously they had to turn Luger face for all this due to the Sting injury.

Oh, and at the end of the segment, Flair seems to slip exiting the ring:

:eek:ops

Which gets a big cheer from the crowd and Luger has to turn away from the camera to hide his apparent laughter.

Ric Flair vs. Brian Pillman/Luger + Horsemen (WCWSN 2/17/90)

Another wonderful Flair match here. Hot crowd for this one too, with Pillman very overwith his offense esp. He does a great leap clothesline off the ropes too onto Flair, that gets another nearfall. Some neat leg work here too by Flair to help setup the figure four. Finish comes when Pillman does a splash off the turnbuckle, just after his air rope spot, but Ric reverses it and pulls the tights for the win. Really good match that showcases Pillman well here.

Flair is on fire so far this year. We then cut to the end of the show with the Horsemen calling out Luger for his answer. Flair then teases asking Lex to join them, but Luger says "Yeah i got an answer". He then punches Ole and Flair and gets out of there.

The WrestleWar match is on.

WCW Clash of the Champions X: Texas Shootout

Dr. Death Steve Williams vs. The Samoan Savage - *** 1/4

For the longest time, before I actually looked it up, I thought for sure that The Samoan Savage was a young Umaga. Of course the longer I looked the more I realized Umaga wasn't that old and it was actually The Tonga Kid from '80s WWF. Anyway though, this match was actually pretty darn good. Simple formula but I enjoyed the big men. Dr. Death would get cut off at the perfect time when he started to make a comeback and the Savage was quality. Williams had an awesome feat of strength midway through where he lost his hand position on a gorilla press and basically held him up on the backside of his wrist. Pretty cool.

Flyin Brian & The Z-Man vs. The MOD Squad - ** 1/4

Basic tag formula, but there's nothing wrong with that.

Mil Mascara vs. Cactus Jack Manson - SQUASH

Ffs if this match doesn't make you completely hate Mil Mascaras (if you don't already which you should tbh) then I don't think anything will. He doesn't let Jack get in a single bit of offense but still manages to get outshined by him. :lol Oh and of course his annoying ass speed walking around the ring with his lats spread. Can't stand the guy. And JESUS CHRIST that bump Foley takes to the floor is disgusting, yet he acted like nothing happened! Crazy bastard.

Falls Count Anywhere
Norman The Lunatic vs. Kevin Sullivan - N/R :lmao

Pre-match quote from Norman: "I can pin him 1-2-3 at the hot dog stand... and then get 3 hot dogs" :lmao Completely harmless match. Ending is hilarious as Brock already posted about.

The Road Warriors vs. The Skyscrapers - ** 3/4

Short match but a total sprint, and an impressive one at that. The way all 4 of these men moved for their size was incredible. There was a spot where Taker (Mean Mark) ran the ropes a few times at full speed and Animal leapfrogged him that seriously made my jaw drop. Ending was a DQ as all hell broke loose and Spivey destroyed them with a steel chair. A fun way to spend 7 minutes no doubt. We got an old school sighting before it was old school as well:

NWA World Tag Team Championship - Titles vs. Masks
The Steiner Brothers (c) vs. Doom - ***

Longest match of the night at 13 minutes, but a chunk of that was stalling in the beginning. Good action though when it got started. Solid heat segment on Scott and a sweet looking frankensteiner. I'm unsure of what happens after this point until Brock watches it and yeah I'm not looking at the results), but I would hope Doom gets another shot and they're totally pissed off about losing the masks so they win the titles. :p

Steel Cage Match
Ric Flair, Arn, & Ole Anderson vs. The Great Muta, The Dragonmaster, & Buzz Sawyer - N/R

What in the hell was this? It felt pointless as a match and certainly pointless that it was in a cage. Went a total of 6 minutes and Sawyer's crazy ass was bumping for most of it. Who tf is The Dragonmaster? :lol

--------------------------

Hey on a serious note though, even though this show was far from a classic, this was a lot of fun to watch. I didn't feel inclined to skip anything (aside from maybe that awful Luger promo) and most of it was either really entertaining or harmless.

Great to see you join in on the fun :)

The steel cage match was pretty much all designed just to have the Sting moment tbh. Shame too, as both teams had a fantastic match a couple of weeks prior to this, but the Clash match was a bit of a mess tbh.

Then we had the awful moment when Sting got injured and WCW had to go into panic mode.

Think i'll go back and watch the Skyscrapers match tho.

Watched Savage vs. Duggan from the January 27th episode of Saturday Night's Main Event. It's called a 'Crown Match' so I guess Savage's crown was on the line? Idk but the match was a lot of fun, even though Sherri should've been thrown out about 6 times. :lol Duggan actually kicks out of a loaded purse shot (which was quite the surprise) until he gets screwed over again by Sherri. Savage was working like a madman in this though. I think he delivered like 4 top rope axe handles :p ***

Rest of the show is pretty meh outside of the Hogan/Warrior build.

Rock & Roll Express vs. Ric Flair & Arn Anderson (Main Event 2/18/90)

Good, solid tag match here. Love Flair/Arn with their respective singles' belts walking to the ring. Starts out with a brawl first, with the Express cleaning house. A large proportion of the match is to do with the Express on offense TBH, with Flair/Arn getting bits and dabs in. Favorite random moment in the match when Arn is on the outside, and a bloke gives him stick whilst carrying his beers:

Arn/Flair didn't really properly take over until Flair got busted open on the post beforehand, for which i noticed the camera switching to crowd shot a couple of times to not show the blood so much i presume, and Ric seems to get busted open the hard way here TBH. Finish comes when Arn/Ric double team to nail Morton off the ropes, who does have his foot on when Arn pins him, but the ref didn't see.

Show opening/Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage (The Main Event 2/23/90)

From what i have read, Mike Tyson as supposed to be the special ref here, but was knocked out by Buster Douglas inthe big Boxing upset, so Douglas is the ref here lol. Not sure if it was to do with money with Tyson, or the fact that he just lost though.

This whole thing was pretty fun as fuck TBH. The Savage promo before the match was great, with Savage saying that he did some investigation and found out that Tyson was a Hulkamaniac :lol

Plus, Savage/Sherri make such a great visual coming out here;

Match was fun too as a whole. Sherri gets involved a few times here too, taking a big knew from Savage after Hogan had grabbed her, but moved out of the way when Savage flew towards him. She also attacked Hulk again:

I just love Douglas here. He's like "I'm a tough guy, but what the fuck can i do here"? :lol He eventually orders Sherri to the back. The match continues once he returns. Savage isn't best pleased with him throughout, as he keeps getting in the way when Randy is trying any ariel offense onto Hogan. I do love Savage just popping right up after from the leg drop, just after the count of 3. Earl gets knocked down for the finish, so Douglas gets another big moment and has to count the pin.

The post match stuff is wonderful though, with Savage being pissed at Buster for doing the pin count, and just goads him for a fee minutes. I fucking :lmao at his little jig

I love Savage. In the end, Douglas ends up 'knocking him out'', when Hogan pushes Randy into him.

Just a really fun angle/match. Oh and Savage/Sherri are fucking magical as a pair, just a perfect couple for the Macho King persona.

Ultimate Warrior vs. Dino Bravo (Finish Only) (The Main Event 2/23/90)

I'm glad it's only the finish, as i can't ever get excited about a Dino Bravo match. Even as a kid i thought he was shit. Bravo has Warrior in a bear hug, but Warrior powers out of it, does his big invincible comeback, hits his shoulder block/splash finisher, and it's 1.2.3.

Earthquake then come in and attacks Warrior, who fights back and knocks Bravo out the ring (yay), but Earthquake clobbers Warrior and is about to hit a big move off the turnbuckle, but then Hogan does a run in to save Warrior and chases off Earthquake.

Warrior isn't best pleased with Hogan coming to help him, and they have a little tet a tet, includes Hogan shoving the ref over lol;

Loved Jesse's line "Here is Hogan again, trying to steal Warrior's limelight". It's ok Jesse, be none of that come Wrestlemania :side:

Hulk Hogan & Ultimate Warrior Interviews (The Main Event 2/23/90)

Hogan talks about Warrior and what just happened and that he's watching the Warrior's back, 24/7.

Warrior's lockeroom is like filled with Warrior related stuff like a shrine. The only thing i could properly understand from his promo was his "I'm the chosen one", line at the end. Which was a surprisingly coherent and apt statement to end it on TBH. As rambling nonsense as these promos are, you can't help but smile. I can't help but think some of this Warrior stuff and some elements in these promos, there is some heelish stuff in there.

Buster Douglas Interview (The Main Event 2/23/90)

Douglas says his next move is to go out drinking with Hogan. Hogan likes buttermilk, and he'll have whole milk.

Brother Love: Jake Roberts & Big Boss Man (Superstars 2/24/90)

I swear, some people will give their right arm to have even half the heat Brother Love always gets lol.

Another fun promo with these. Love calls out Jake, who obliges and trash talks him and the Million Dollar Man regarding his belt that Jake still has. He then says that DiBiase doesn't have to wait until WM, he can come and try and take it now.

Jake says that he came out to introduce a man that can't be bought, and that is the Big Boss Man. He then says that Boss Man won't roll over for a little cash. They then leave the stage and Brother Love starts to talk shit about the Boss Man, saying that one of the lowest forms of life is a snake, but there is one thing lower than a snake and that’s a law enforcement officer who won’t take money! i mean he could have waited. Boss Man comes right back out and gets in his face, and of course Love shits himself and backs off.

Boss Man then pulls out his handcuffs and ties him to a guardrail. Then, for some reason, introduces a big ball and chain. He then frogmarches Love to the ring, gives him his big slam, and plants the ball and chain right in his midriff.

Great segment to further Boss Man's face turn TBH.
