1995 is known as one of wrestlings worst years, how would you fix it?

I would give HBK and diesel the main event at wrestlemania 11, scrap Undertaker vs King Kong Bundy and give him a far more meaningful and interesting feud with Bret Hart or Razor Ramon, and I would get rid of all the hokey gimmicks like The Goon and Doink the Clown,

Summerslam 1995, HBK vs Razor as the main event, Scrap Diesel and King mabel completely, and throw in someone like Undertaker, Hunter Hearst Helmsley, 123 kid, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, or Davey Boy Smith, seriously what were these guys DOING during this year,

I would also jump back to 1994 and give Macho Man Randy Savage that last feud he was looking for with Shawn Michaels, at the time he was more over then a lot of the younger wrestlers, so that would keep Savage in the WWF, at least a little while longer, cause in 95, he could still wrestle,

I would also bring in Dean douglas, but not as that stupid teacher gimmick he had, I would bring him in as the Franchise, Shane Douglas, his ECW character, also no Ringmaster, he will come in as Stone Cold Steve Austin, just...no ringmaster,

also at some point in 1995 I would give HBK, Razor Ramon, Owen Hart or Davey Boy a WWF World Title run, feuding against diesel, taker, bret hart or yokozuna

Thats what I would do, what would you guys do?? and what do you think of my solution??

I did a 1995 rebooking fanfic on another forum. It was awesome. Since I loved real life 1995 WWF I didn't change a ton of stuff. Some of the biggies were....

Bam Bam stayed heel and got a bigger push through the Summer
Lawler got LT duty at 'Mania instead of Bigelow
Undertaker feuded with awesome Papa Shango instead of stupid Kama
Mr. Backlund held the title until Royal Rumble '95 and was used better throughout the year
1-2-3 Kid initially went with The Dean~! instead of Ted Dibiase upon turning heel
Avatar got more use
Michaels won KOTR instead of Mabel
Horowitz's push lasted longer
Aldo Montoya was a 16th Century Portuguese explorer
Tom Prichard was repackaged as Hunter Hearst Helmsley's butler, Jeeves

That could have been cool. His character, his theme song and his attire were so stupid. What ever made the WWF create a character like that, anyway?

I honestly wouldn't change many things except for nixing that stupid wrestler vs football player match...
Maybe putting more effort on the women's division, bringing the back Wendi Richter and Luna Vachon, and putting the female japanese wrestlers they used to hire at the time with the title for a bit, thus increasing the Alundra Blayze popularity while trying to regain the title.
This would have prevented her from jumping to the rivals, which at the time thought it was a big loss.

Actually did a whole podcast on this very topic once, if you're interested you can find it here: http://squaredcirclegazette.podbean.com/mf/web/6yfk8e/SCGRadio64-FixingTheWWFin1995.mp3

In the feedback we got most people's perception was that Diesel is the key, you either stick with him, build better challengers and hope for the best, or you cut bait early (and there were signs as early as January that Diesel on top was a box office flop) and move in a new direction. Problem is, the roster is very weak at the time, so you either have to fast track Shawn as a super heel, go back to Bret, or try something from left field like Razor and a heel Luger. Taker had lost a lot of steam by January 95 with the awful angle from the year before, and all the guys they brought in were only to supplement that top 5 or 6 guys, so you didn't have a lot of options.

- Establish more heels. Once Shawn turned, you had Yoko, Owen, Bulldog and total shit for the rest of the heel roster.

- One solution: Aligning Lex Luger with the Million Dollar Corporation. Not only refreshens Luger while giving him a mouthpiece that could elevate him to the main event after the 'Lex Express' failure, but it legitimizes the group as a whole.

- Bret Hart vs. WWF Champion Lex Luger is the big feud of 1995 (kicking off late 1994 and rolling through the first half of 1995). Luger replaces Backlund in that angle.

- Razor Ramon vs. Owen Hart for the IC Title during the fall and winter (Camp Cornette in tact)

- Diesel gets a decent Title run during the summer and fall, without becoming a lame ass face. Keep the badass edge to him.

- Shawn is basically the same. Face turn, gets really over, feud with Sid some (LEMME TELL YA SOMETHING, YOU STUPID LITTLE PUKE) and holds the IC Title for a bit.

- Mabel never fucking wins KOTR. The roster had no depth whatsoever, so it's either let an already established guy win or have a random win. Let's go with British Bulldog for the hell of it.

I actually liked 1995, sure the was stupidity but that exists in some of the great years as well. 1999 (Beaver Cleavage anyone?). Still if I where to change 1995 I'd have Shawn Michaels win the KOTR instead of Mabel, get the title shot vs. Diesel at Summerslam and win the title there in a WM rematch. Then have Hart win the title at Survivor Series from Michaels. Have 1996 play out as it did with Hart and Michaels.

Treat the Million Dollar stable like it matters with high profile heel turns and an eventual champion. Sid is legit but Tatanka, Bam Bam, King Kong Bundy, Kama that's the bigger joke of a stable ever created and that stable was feuding with most of the main eventers. Someone brought up Luger which would certainly make sense but Razor is another guy who could of been gold in that role.

Luger or Razor as the leader, Sid as enforcer, Owen as mid card champ, Bam Bam. That's a stable worthy of feuding with the top faces.

Most importantly no Mabel. I liked him in Men on a Mission but man he was exposed as a singles wrestler. You have to give that push to someone else probably Savio Vega just as a impressive debut which could lead to him being a player in the IC scene.

I fast track the Attitude Era and have it actually start in 95 by having WWF be a mainstream version of ECW. No campy and cartoon characters/gimmicks, realistic and badass characters/gimmicks. More depth on the roster, I would of hired more wrestlers so can have enough options for storylines and feuds plus titles. Better booking in general so have credible wrestlers fighting for titles or holding titles, and the last thing I would of done was have Diesel be a badass WHC and not a Hulk Hogan rip off.

- Don't leave Razor stuck in the IC Title picture, push the man for God's sake with KOTR. Let 123 Kid take his place in the mid-card

- HBK/Sid feud continues through the summer so people can know why HBK is a face and keep him away from the IC Title, he doesn't need it

- As the year goes on, Bret gets more desperate to become World Champion again so he can be a quasi-heel going into WM 12

- And for the love of Christ, don't turn Diesel into yet another cheesy Hogan ripoff like Luger a couple years prior

The first thing I'd have done would be to put the title on Owen Hart in late 1994, rather than Diesel. Bob Backlund could still defeat Bret Hart with the help of Owen Hart at Survivor Series 1994, only for Bob Backlund to reward Owen for his helpful efforts with a championship match that Owen wins. Owen refuses to give Bret Hart a title shot, but Bret Hart wins the 1995 Royal Rumble and earns a championship match at Wrestlemania against his brother. Bret facing Owen Hart at Wrestlemania would have been a great way to close the family feud one year on from their Wrestlemania X match, especially if they resolved their feud and finally shook hands after the match, reuniting the Hart Foundation. I'd have kept the championship on Bret Hart until Wrestlemania 12, with various heels challenging and failing.

The Diesel and Shawn Michaels rivalry was hot enough without the need for the championship, plus I never liked Diesel as champion (particularly as a face). I'd have booked Diesel against Shawn for Wrestlemania and done a double turn - with Shawn losing but coming out of the match as a babyface and Diesel coming out as heel. I'd have booked Diesel to feud with Bret Hart, Undertaker, Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels for the rest of the year following Wrestlemania, as they'd have been able to get the best out of Kevin Nash in the ring (hiding Kevin Nash's obvious flaws).

Mabel would never have recieved a push. The King of the Ring winner would have been Razor Ramon rather than that fat, useless waste of space Mabel (who was terrible at everything). This would have led to a face vs face feud with Bret for the championship (and a ladder match) which would have been pretty memorable, I think, as it would have begun a heel turn for Bret Hart. I always liked him as a heel (his 1997 character was great) and it would have been brilliant to see his character change and evolve. A babyface Shawn would win the 1996 Royal Rumble and take the title from Bret Hart at Wrestlemania 12, as happened, with Bret taking his break shortly after.

Randy Savage replaced Bret as champion instead of Bob Backlund in late 1994 and held the belt until WM 11 thus keeping Randy in WWF and having him as a top heel. Bret becomes champion at Mania and holds title for 1 whole year until WM12. Both Diesel and Shawn kept as heels throughout 1995 so both can play to their strengths and not have lame baby face runs. Somebody/Anybody else becoming King of The Ring instead of Mabel.

My initial thought would have been putting the title on Randy Savage, but - alas - he'd left the WWF by that point. In an ideal world, though, Savage would definitely have been used more between 1993-94 so that he wouldn't have wanted to leave. There were plenty of great feuds that he could've participated in : Shawn Michaels, Diesel, Bret Hart, Razor Ramon etc. Savage was terribly misused by the WWF in 1993-1994. It's a tragedy, really, as I don't think WCW ever used him properly.
