What Tag Team Member were you in the minority for preferring?

So I was having a hard time coming up with a succinct title for this thread so here it is a little more thoroughly explained.

Over the years, even in some of the GOAT tag teams, one member is always considered the more popular, or polished, or "destined".

Shawn Michaels over Marty Jannetty is the ultimate example.

But in just about every tag team I kind of like one guy better.

So here's the question in what teams did you find yourself going against the conventional wisdom on who was better?

I thought of three immediately but I will only give two because I don't want to throw out too many right off the bat.

1. Dennis Condrey of the Midnight Express: I always thought Loverboy Dennis was the backbone of the team. And while Eaton was praised by my peers in those pre IWC "smart fan" days, I preferred Condrey.

2. Animal of the Road Warriors: I know lots of people who preferred Animal but I would say a large majority liked the more charismatic Hawk. For me I liked Animal he just seemed so much more imposing.

Which tag team member did you like better that went against the grain?

Nature Boy Buddy Rogers over Handsome Johnny Barend (NWA U.S. Tag Team Champions 1962-1963)

But, does this surprise anyone??? Is this even relevant to the thread??? I don't know, but I'm sure that many were holding their breath waiting for me to mention Buddy Rogers!!! :evil

I liked Billy Gunn more than Road Dogg. Don't know if that counts because when they were teaming they were pretty equal but at least these days Road Dogg is the more popular one.

Does TNA count? If so I like Chris Harris more than James Storm despite James having the bigger career and Harris pretty much being a joke these days.

I too preferred Animal to Hawk because he was stronger, plus he debuted as The Road Warrior by himself so I knew him first. I preferred Jim Brunzell over both Greg Gagne and Brian Blair. I had no preference between Afa and Sika because there was no discernible difference between the two. At the time, I liked Beefcake over Valentine which proved that, at times, I had no taste at that age. I'd pick Valentine over him every time now. When it came to the ridiculous amount of "teeny bopper teams like The Rock and Roll Express et al, I hated each member equally with a passion and hoped they would all be destroyed.

This thread is a really great read,
Nice to know i am not the only person who often prefers the 'other guy'

Wouldn't say i liked Marty more than Shawn but i truly don't buy into the whole you could tell Shawn was the star of the team spiel,
They seemed very evenly matched in my opinion during there tenure as The Rockers, Although Shawn was much more popular with the ladies.

Haas over Benjamin is probably the most controversial one of mine that has not already been said.
I always thought Charlie was great, Especially with his role alongside Rico.

Matt Hardy over Jeff Hardy.

Matt Hardy V.1 was gold, and his rivalry with Edge made me love Matt. Though he didn't have insane spots like Jeff, I feel like he's a better all around performer, and he's charismatic as well, its just a different kind.

Also a few others

Pillman over Austin - Hollywood Blondes
Savage over Hogan - MegaPowers (Is a stretch since some can say they both were very popular)
Dynamite Kid over British Bulldog
Kane over Undertaker (I know some would say I'm bullshitting on this one, but I've always enjoyed Kane more Than the Undertaker, especially when they use to team)

Tugboat > Earthquake :fact

Seriously though I really did have to think about this one. I always thought that Moe was way better than Mabel. I agree with Animal with Road Warriors. Also because he tried to keep that team together when Hawk was having issues. Scott Hall was better than Kevin Nash in almost every aspect.

Evan Bourne over Kofi (Air Bourne) mostly because have always been a fan of Matt Korklan especially when he teamed with Ricochet as Matt Sydal, his aerial skills & athleticism were almost equally as good as Ricochet. Same can be said of Paul London over Brian Kendrick.

Orton over Edge (RatedRko), Albert over Test (T&A), Mercury over Morrison (MnM & also prefered Miz over Morrison), Chuck over Billy, Faarooq over Bradshaw (Faarooq's power moves were epic), Steve Blackman over Al Snow and Curtis over Ryback.

I agree on both - I much preferred Evan over Kofi and I definitely liked Paul London more than Brian Kendrick. I was a huge fan of Paul's :)

I also initially liked Matt Hardy more than Jeff, too.

In the two man DX tandem of Trips & HBK (the 2006 revival), who was the more popular one? Cos HBK was my fave of the two...

I don't know who was considered more popular but I liked Scotty Too Hotty because I knew his grandparents.
Others:
Valentine over Beefcake in the Dream Team
Valentine over Honky Tonk in Rhythm and Blues
Albert over Test because he's a Kowalski guy
Hall over Nash because he's a far superior worker when sober
Rotunda over Windham in the U.S. Express
Jim Powers over Paul Roma in the Young Stallions because I've always hated Roma. To this day if I ran into him I'd push him into a puddle of mud. No particular reason. Probably should talk to a psychologist about that.

I started watching in 1990 when I was 7. My first favorite tag team when I saw them that year was The Rockers. TBH though, for alittle while I did like Marty more than Shawn; only because I had/have dark hair and Marty did too, so I kind of identified with him alittle bit more as a kid. :lol I still liked them both pretty equally, but I did prefer Marty a tad more for awhile there because of that.

LOD were my second favorite tag team in this era. I also preferred Animal over Hawk. Not entirely sure why except I knew that I liked Animal's face paint design more than Hawks'. This was also in 1990 when I was really young, though, so yeah.
