1.The Skyscrapers def. Battle Royale participants-Two Ring King of The Hill Battle Royal

On the Network this thing is barely watchable. It literally just kinda skips around. So I guess it's only fair to give this one. *

2.Brian Pillman def. Bill Irwin

Man Pillman is freaking awesome as always. He had a way better career in WCW. Iriwn played the big tough guy role very well here. These guys really just had a simple formula and did the best the could with it, and I was really proud of the end result. Pillman was using high flying techniques like nobody's business, especially that jump from the second ring all the way to the first ring.
***

3.The Skyscrapers def. The Dynamic Dudes

Another good match here. Man Dan Spivey may be tall and big, but he's got a talent when it comes to actually wrestling. Sid on the other hand, not so much. The Dynamic Dudes was possibly one of the worst gimmicks in wrestling history, but they were both decent wrestlers. Hell they even did a nice double drop kick around the end of it. ***

4.Jim Cornette def. Paul E. Dangerously-Tuxedo Match

Didn't give a shit. I don't think any one else did either. *

5.The Steiner Brothers def. The Varsity Club

This one was short and sweet. Rick hit a sick German on one of the Varsity members. Like I said it was short, but fast paced enough to at least be pretty good. **

6.Sting(c) def. The Great Muta

NWA World Television Championship

Man what a site to see. Two face painted stars battling it out with high flying moves. Sting leaped over the top rope of one ring to another and landed on Muta. Muta also did his handspring back elbow which is always awesome to see. ***

7.Lex Luger(c) def. Ricky Steamboat

NWA United States Heavyweight Championship

This one was long and boring. Lex wouldn't really let Steamboat work his magic here as he just kept using rest holds. *

8.The Road Warriors, The Midnight Express, & Steve Williams def. The Fabulous Freebirds & The Samoan Swat Team-War Games Match

This was actually the first War Games match I have seen and I must say that
it surely delivered. Bobby Eaton was hanging from the cage kicking people. Meanwhile The Freebirds were delivering beatdowns on their opponents. Every body had a part to play here and it really worked. ***

9.Ric Flair(c) def. Terry Funk

NWA World Heavyweight Championship

This one was a sight to see, but really disappointed me. Both guys kept on using Piledrivers which seems to be a common problem with Flair's matches back then. There was some good brawling moments, but nothing that really impressed me here. *

PPV Rating: **

It wasn't horrible just pretty good. I was surprised by some matches, and disappointed by others. There wasn't really any main match that sticks out to me, I mean the second match stole the show by a tad, but it wasn't great by any means.

You're terrible at reviewing because this is held in the highest regard by many and is often argued as the greatest PPV of all-time, even superior to WM X-7.

Here's Scott Keith's review: http://www.rspwfaq.net/2012/07/july...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

The Bottom Line:

Untouched by the ravages of time and sports entertainment bullshit, this show remains the pinnacle of the early NWA PPV era and the single greatest wrestling PPV ever produced. The matches, while slightly shorter than usual, have absolutely no wasted space in them and almost zero resting, as everyone turned it up about 150 notches for this show and put on a blowaway effort in every sense of the word.

But is Wrestlemania X-7 a better show? Well, comparing the top matches.

- Rock/Austin v. Flair/Funk Better storyline for Bash, better match for WM. Give the edge to the WWF here.

- TLC3 v. WarGames - Better gimmick for the Bash, more eye-popping spotfest for WM. Since the styles are so drastically different, call it a push.

- HHH/Undertaker v. Steamboat/Luger No contest here, I think, comparing power v. technique matches. Luger could MOVE back in the day, whereas UT has been in slow motion since he returned in 2000. Definite edge to the Bash here.

- Sting/Muta v. Benoit/Angle. Too close to call. Both featuring state-of-the-art stuff and hot new workers. However, Sting/Muta had an actual backstory and buildup, whereas Benoit/Angle was just thrown together the week before the show, so I'm gonna give the edge to the Bash again.

So the final tally: 2-1-1 for the Great American Bash, winner and STILL PPV champion for the foreseeable future.

Hey man, I'm just trying to review every PPV I've seen and hopefully will eventually have seen every PPV. I like NWA I just don't factor in nostalgia or star power as far as reviewing matches. Like I said in my review there were some good matches on this card. Just because I don't like something you like doesn't mean I'm bad at reviewing. I'm sorry that the quality of work has evolved so much that I just don't find a ton of rest holds that entertaining any more.

You're review of this event goes against everything I've ever heard anybody say about it, as the general consensus is that it's one of the best PPVs ever.

Fair enough though, that just makes your review more interesting. Keep them coming!

My opinion, the Muta v Sting match is pretty fantastic. I love most of Muta's matches around this time, and surfer Sting was always pretty entertaining.

The Lugar v Steamboat match is good, not one of Steamboat's best, but he's got some pretty high standards.

I can watch Funk and Flair go at it any time.

This is what happens when modern fans judge classic PPVs.

Dude he did do way too many Piledrivers, and it was just a big brawl. I'm more of an actual wrestling fan not an all out brawl fan. Don't get me wrong I like brawls when they at least have some technical wrestling in them, but Flair Vs. Funk didn't have any technicality at all in my opinion.
