this one is easy!!
THE DX CHANGED THE WWE FOREVER/DX IS RIGHT UP THERE WITH NWO FOR GREATEST FACTIONS EVER
This is by far the biggest load of crap the WWE has been trying to feed us over the past 10 years. The idea that the DX somehow revolutionized, captivated, or changed the landscape of wrestling is fucking laughable if you actually go back and rewatch it. Lets take a look at the first run where HBK/HHH/Chyna were running a muck as heel DX, and you'll notice that the crowd was really not that hot over it. The attitude era was already in full swing at this point, and yet these guys weren't really receiving the kind of reaction that the WWE tells you they did. And why should they? It's backstage nutcase HBK and pretty boy Hunter Hurst Helmsely running around burying everyone they see....what's so great about that? Stone Cold, the rock, and the Undertaker were all killing it a lot more, and even the hart foundation of 1997 got a LOT more heat than this DX run did. Speaking of which, don't forget how neither of them let Owen Hart get one fucking piece of revenge or one actual clean win when he came back as the black sheep, which would have gave Owen the push he so desperately deserved at the time. AND even if you disagree with all of that, the worst part about it was that it wasn't even that long of a run. It was a 5 month stint that didn't feature a single DX vs (blank) PPV match (because they screwed the hart family)...didn't do anything to make Triple H seem legit at all by only wrestling Sgt Slaughter at the time...and got to the point where they had their own PPV, one that many consider to be one of the worst PPVs of all time.
Honestly, the DX didn't really start to take off or become what we know today, until Shawn left, when they turned DX from the annoying, burying assholes, to fun-loving, catchphrase making faces. IN fact, I'd say the only thing that was really getting this whole faction over was fucking the New Age Outlaws of all people. And even then they were always a 3rd or 4th thought at the time, but yet the WWE wants you to believe that these guys were game-changers, and on the same stratosphere as the NWO? Give me a break. One faction includes Hulk Hogan, Diesel and Razor RAmon, and the other consists of HHH, Billy Gunn, X-pac, and Road dogg. One faction essentially changed the way we see kayfabe forever and finally brought down the fourth wall between WCW and WWF. The other created catchphrases. One faction had me literally shaking in excitement when it first started, while the other made me count down the days until the Austin era was finally going to be allowed to start.
I'm not trying to say that the DX were awful or that I even hated them. That's not where this is going. They were definitely a player in the AE, no doubt. But how many times have we seen the clip of HHH in the tank going to WCW headquarters? We're lead to believe as if that moment was earth shattering at the time and that fans came to the arena for DX.....wrong wrong wrong and wrong. I mean, I think we know why the WWE wants us to believe that, and I'm sure it has nothing to do with one of the bosses being the leader of said faction.
fuck that noise
