What are the best wrestlers of this year?

Nicely done. I remember them having a couple good Ones on Raw. hell, I'd go so far as to say Doink was the MVP of Monday night raw in 93. Seemed like he was on there doing something every week, and if my memory correct it was mostly quality stuff.

The Quebbeccers and Johnny Polo put out some great stuff when they showed up too, in particular I remember a great match against the Steiners on Raw from either 93 or 94 can't remember. It Had a wierd Stip and the Steiners lost the belts by dq? Sound familiar at all?

Bret Hart
Razor Ramon
Yokozuna
Undertaker
Mr Perfect
Ric Flair
Shawn Michaels
Bam Bam Bigelow
Ted DiBiase
Tatanka
Diesel (somewhat, his popularity would increase ten fold the following year)

Owen Harts career took off the following year when he started feuding with Bret.

edit:
+ Lex Luger, IRS, 1-2-3 Kid, Randy Savage and Jerry Lawler

Yokozuna has no business on anybody's list this year, so many painfully slow matches.

Bret was obviously awesome, 1-2-3 Kid was an injection of fun, Shawn Michaels was coming into his own, and Mr. Perfect was damn good for the first half of the year when he still believed he could have been in line for the top spot. I think he phoned in his efforts in the second half once he realised that wasn't to be.

Jerry Lawler's heel work was the best thing in the promotion in 1993, hands down.

I'll probably forget a few but some that come to mind for me are:

Bret
Perfect
Martel
Dibiase
Shawn
Tito
Jacques Rougeau

I think Savage was on commentary at this point, but if he wrestled at any point, him also and add Owen to the mix too :)

1. Bret. The most consistent performer all year long.

2. Steiner Brothers. Too bad there weren't more teams for them to face that had the same physical style. It's a travesty that we never got a Harts/Steiners rematch, love that match.

3. Jerry Lawler. Lawler didn't do much in the ring but his heel character and commentary was great. He had the hottest angle of the year going with Bret. Such a shame that legal stuff came up and he couldn't perform at Survivor Series as planned, I think that could have been something special with him instead of Shawn.

Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon if we're talking match quality and actually making you care as their storylines were the most important of the year in my opinion and were the glue that held the company together. The Undertaker was still doing the slow matches against monster heels that would have been better in horror films than wrestling, Yokozuna was working with Hogan then Luger and Curt Hennig was only around until Summerslam if I remember right.

You could argue that Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon were not only the best of that year but that whole era until Mick Foley came along and made The Undertaker evolve and work a completely different match than he ever had done before. Diesel may have had a year long reign and Undertaker booked the strongest but Shawn, Bret and Razor literally held that company together and made whatever they were involved in seem the most important thing around whether it was in the main event or the mid card and as much hate as that era gets without those three NO ONE would have watched WWE.

Bret Hart for sure. He was in his athletic prime then. He might have been a better overall package in 1997, but pre-1996 Bret was pretty fast in the ring.
