I started watching wrestling in 2002, when the Ruthless Aggression Era was slowly becoming a thing, so I didn't have the chance to see what the Attitude Era was all about. So I ask you which year should I watch? Any particular RAW?
Mania '98 should be good enough point to start watching. From that point on you get the awesome reign of Austin as mega-star, the rise of the Rock, the rise and incredible run of heel HHH, WCW mid-carders like Jericho, benoit, Eddie debuting, Foley, Taker, Kurt etc etc...good times.
Is the Network EVER going to have all of 97-2000? Seriously. It was half the reason I even signed up in the first place a FULL YEAR ago now. I would say start then, but they don't even have it.
February 1997. They went back to where it all began at the old Manhattan Center. Then the next week or later that same month they debuted that huge ugly titan tron which they have to this day, and expanded to 2 hours.
Hell, I'd start in October 1996 for Steve Austin's rise alone. He was really starting to get some momentum going, and that character at the time was so entertaining. More of a foul mouthed asshole than he was in 1998, threatening random producers and interviewers seemingly every week.
Then Bret's return and their long feud was excellent.
To me the Attitude Era started around the Spring of 1997 at the latest. The rest of that Summer was amazing with the USA/Canada story lines, along with Paul Bearer "holding" a secret over the Undertaker's head for a good part of the year, which leads to Kane's debut... So many neat and unique story lines played out that year... You even see the actual start of the Austin/McMahon feud start in late 1997.
If you start any later, you're already missing out.
