Does anyone have a pic or the episode stats of when Glacier debuted on WCW? I heard he looked alot like Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat 3 but the only time I saw him was in a later episode.
He had a really awesome look with some really unique attire and now when I think about it, he looked exactly liked Sub-Zero. Unfortunately he debuted at a time in wrestling when promotions were starting to move away from the whole cartoon-ish like gimmicks. If he had debuted in WWE or WCW in late '92 up until early '95 he might of had some success as a solid mid-carder instead of him just being one of those randos who were fed to Goldberg to build-up his undefeated streak numbers.
This is how I remember Glacier. For all of the hype and over the top entrances, he never seemed to live up to the build. He was doomed and never got out of the mid-card.
He was overhyped before he made his debut and people were disappointed when he actually started to work in the ring. Same kind of thing happens in the WWE all the time right now too, just think of all the big Adam Rose hype and then when he actually debuted on the main roster he just couldn't live up to it and the fans lost interest.
It did seem like he was hyped forever, but that wasn't unusual at that time. Just as examples I also remember WWE doing long hypes for Razor Ramon, Val Venis, and Crush. I know there were others. WCW tended to go more for established guys and surprise appearances, or the who is the mystery guy angle. Glacier was more the WWE style intro and it was unusual for WCW as I remember.
I guess what they were hoping for was what The Crow did for Sting. But it never panned out like that lol.
