Default Did Heat change your mind on who was going to win the Deadly Game Tournament

Here is the Sunday Night Heat show prior to Survivor Series 1998, which featured the Deadly Game Tournament to crown a new WWF Champion.

Watching this, did it change your mind on who you thought was going to win?

It was obvious Rock was going to win when he won the #1 contender match at Breakdown and they just kind of forgot about it. Wrestling can be very weird were things can be predictable as Hell but when it plays out people still play along on being nave about it.

Rock being the corporate champ, Vince being the higher power, and HHH being the co conspirator should have been seen from miles away.

The Higher Power thing doesn't really belong in that category. Almost everyone called Vince. Even Bischoff said it on Nitro before it happened live (and there was a story about him being nervous waching RAW because he wasn't 100% sure). People wanted it to be someone clever, and new, but through process of elimination, Vince was pretty obvious. People's problem with it was that, not only was it predictable, but that it made no sense after everything he put Stephanie through and his blood feud with Taker, and we knew it was going to happen anyway.

Rock winning the tournament and Foley being a lameduck was one of those things that you could call in advance and the clues were certainly laid out, but there was enough doubt because Rock was really gaining traction as a babyface and Foley was set up as Vince's boy all year, that you weren't quite sure they had the balls to do that turn, and then they did and it was one of the best executed angles they ever did.

I don't disagree with you said there and it's why they were throwing names out for guy's not even with the company like Jake Roberts. Just trying to find someone to steer you away from the obvious. I still think they fooled as many people as they did with the corporation angle. I can tell you I was the only person who called it amongst my group of friends/ family watching at the time.

The corporate champ storyline is probably the best storyline they came up with during the AE. Instantly created 2 Main Eventers. The tournament itself could have been better though.

Yeah, that tournament was underwhelming for sure. Good talents like The Rock, Stone Cold, Mankind and Undertaker etc. but ? guys like Duane Gill where there and not guys like Owen Hart.
