I remember watching it with my Dad when I was 13 and he said to me "there's your next top star". My dad was a big Austin fan even before he took off in 1997/98, he just saw something in him from the start. Even at my young age I was impressed as well, I knew he was special and that promo was godly at the time. It still is amazing now.

Also on the card, the Smoking Gunns with sunny retained the tag titles against the Godwinns.

Is 18 a special number? I don't see a connection.

no its just another year. round figuring it you know saying "18 years ago today was the birth of the most popular superstar of all time" instead of "17 years and 252 days ago".

Just a mile stone - as another year passes.

I really didn't get behind Austin until those Bret Hart vignettes started to air. That's when you kind of knew he was without a doubt their future guy. You're use to the KITR winner being prominently featured especially for Summerslam but it seems like they only had filler for Austin until Hart came back.
