Vince McMahon as the Greater Power

Remember this angle with Undertaker/Austin and the Ministry of Darkness? Everyone thought the higher power would be Jake the Snake or Ted Dibiase or Raven, but it turned out to be Mr. Mcmahon. At the time it seemed lame, but it did lead into the whole HHH/Steph alliance later in the year, so I guess it worked out. Still probably would have been better if it was someone else besides Vince.

I don't remember ever thinking that was lame when it all went down, I think it worked out awesomely and added new layers to the whole situation.

Should have been Jake The Fuckin Snake!

It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so fucking what.

Re: Vince Mcmahon as the Greater Power

I remember thinking Who else could it be? Vince made the most sense. Anybody could fit if they were revealed and the story was moulded around them, but Vince made the most sense.

I've seen people compare this to the Fingerpoke of Doom but really, this was pretty sweet. Convoluted and unimaginable, but a good wrestling angle.

I honestly don't think it would have been better with anyone else. Honestly. Vince played it as well as it could be. We were all expecting The Emperor to 'Taker's Darth Vader, but really it fit with what Vince was trying to do prior to this all beginning.

it worked out so well back then, those wanting some random guy to play such a huge role… come on.

Re: Vince Mcmahon as the Greater Power

It had to be Vince, there was no other option.

How they got there was confusing, but Vince clearly made the most sense.

Re: Vince Mcmahon as the Greater Power

I hated it. I thought it was one of the worst decisions at the time. Granted, I wasn't a fan of a lot of the over the top, shock value crap of the Attitude Era to begin with, but it was a bad decision.
I had heard somewhere that originally it was supposed to be Jake Roberts or Don "Jackyl" Callis but then the decision was made to make the Higher Power a total swerve & made it Vince.
I hated it then & I still hate it. Bad decision.

Trust Me

Re: Vince Mcmahon as the Greater Power

Can someone explain to me why Jake The Snake Roberts would have fit into this role? I can understand revealing him and then making it fit, but just on paper, why was Jake Roberts expected?
