Analyze This: Crowd Pops
A returning wrestler, a surprise entrant/opponent, the underdog, the popular babyface; all of them have something in common, huge crowd pops.
While the crowd pop is mostly the direct indicator of the popularity of a wrestler in case of a face and crowd boos is the direct indicator of the success of the heel, does it serve any purpose or hold any value when it comes to booking or backstage decisions? Also, do think it is/should be a determining factor when it comes to the main event push of a wrestler?
Don't fear the axe, fear the man
