How would Gino Hernandez's career turned out?

This thread might go down like a lead balloon unless you were a fan of WCCW and wrestling in Texas in general. However this kid was really good, an incredible heel, great talker, natural star quality charisma, had great matches and his feud with the Von Erich's was red hot, later alongside Chris Adams. He also won the Texas Heavyweight title beating Ric Flair in a Tournament final, and they had some fine matches

Unfortunately like most guys in WCCW he had his demons, a huge drug problem, eventually OD'ing probably in his prime at the age of 28

Many thought he had the potential to go on to be the next big heel in all of NWA. I know it's quite a vague question, but where do you think his career would've gone if he had managed to control his demons?

God him and David Von Erich could've been 2 of the best of all-time imo

As with all the top guys of WCCW I think he would've eventually been scooped up by another territory after WCCW's popularity declined.

He had all the tools to be a top guy and there is a huge possibility he could've been one. Would he have been NWA champ? Not sure.

Although supposedly David Von Erich was going to take the belt off Flair.

Always wondered about this guy. Don't really know much about WCCW but every time I watch the DVD about it this guy is an absolute stand out.

Seemed to be a bit like Ric Flair in terms of the rich playboy gimmick.

Love Gino. A real shame as he was a real rising star.

Fairly confident he would have had a strong career at whatever level, probably would have done a stint in WWF/WCW at some point.

He most likely would have been signed by the WWF and continued on with the playboy gimmick. Or WCW could have possibly hooked him up with Cornette, Heyman, or the Horsemen at some point.

Not too big of a frame, so Vince would ignore him or use him as a "C" team mid card guy to make his roid freaks look good.

If he could get in Dusty's good graces, then maybe he'd have a solid mid card run in JCP in 87 when the roster was getting stale.

Ultimately he'd probably float around Texas and Global and maybe a late career resurgence in ECW - then be scooped up by WCW and be a JTTS.

Probably would have ended up in a tag team with Tito Santana

He had the potential to be one of the best heels ever. BTW, I'm a HUGE WCCW fan. I hope the network releases a lot more of that library because it is hard to find the early 80s stuff.

IIRC, Flair has said that NWA was going to make David champion at one point had he not passed away. David had it all.
