Randy Savage's increasingly ridiculous outfits

I have always been a big Randy Savage fan. Even as a kid I mostly rooted for the bad guys and I loved the arrogant ones like Perfect, Flair and Savage. Savage in the mid to late 80s was unimpeachable. His wardrobe was flashy but not completely over the top. He wore the sequined capes, but his ring attire was relatively simple.

The Macho King period (which I also enjoyed--MAJOR Sherri fan!) saw him switch to the long tights with all the crazy neon late 80s prints sometime with the crazy Hawaiian flowers and what not. Still, it wasn't too bad. But when he started wearing the cowboy hats with the fringe everywhere and even the sunglasses were decorated I felt he started to lose some of his edge. It seemed to be solidified with the Slim Jim commercials and he became almost a clown. Before the 92 Royal Rumble he even had giant purple feathers coming out of his cowboy hat, and the print on one of his outfits looked like abstract fried eggs!

Also it bothered me that he wore that gold shirt in the Wrestlemania match against Flair. I know it shouldn't really matter, but only big fat beast wrestlers are supposed to wear shirts.

Now you mention it, the gold shirt did bother me too. Never really understood that decision. I'm also a big Macho Man fan, so I can remember most of his outfits. I really liked his Macho Madness shtick in WCW the black and white outfits were pretty dope.

Re: Randy Savage's increasingly ridiculous outfits

See, I like the gold outfit and the Madness ringwear. Only stuff I hated was this hideous pink and yellow floral get up that he seemed to wear all the time in 92/93. I remember it used to make me angry just looking at it.

It makes me laugh that he was a 'Macho Man' but the stuff he wore was anything but Macho yet strangely it all seems to make sense somehow

My absolute favourite Randy Savage attire was what he wore at Wrestlemania VII, I thought that looked awesome.

That one is my favourite too. He, Warrior, Sherri and Elizabeth all looked amazing that night. That's what superstars look like - not like today where they all seem to wear the same stuff.

Yeah, you're right, it was very flamboyant and very cool!

Edit : Just realised that first picture changed from the one I linked for some reason, edited it out now, it wasn't even from Mania VII wasn't that first image.

I liked Savage's gold attire at WM 8 vs. Flair. It was actually my favorite Savage attire.

If by Randy Savage's increasingly ridiculous outfits you mean Randy Savage's increasingly awesome outfits, then I agree.
