Damn I wish I was around in this era.
I came back as a full time fan around 1998/1999 to around 2005. I LOVED the WWF then - Stone Cold, Undertaker, Kane, Mick Foley, etc., etc. I went to way more live shows including Smackdowns, Raws, WWF House Shows, WCW NITRO, Indy matches, with my son than I ever attended as a kid back in the day. It was GREAT
However, the truth be told, nothing can compare to the Golden Age of Wrestling
which I consider lasted from 1950 to around 1965
, despite what Wikipedia might say. It was just something indescribable that these video clips can only convey partially.
I remember when I showed my son a video of the Rogers-O'Connor record breaking NWA World Championship match in Comiskey Park. Being brought up on WWF and WCW I didn't think he would like it. However, he sat through the entire 30+ minute match without taking his eyes off the screen. When it was over he commented, "Pop, so some of the matches were for real back in your day."
I think that says it!
